Hi all, first post. Glad to be here. I have a long list of electrical issues with my 2023 Prius Limited that while infrequent, reoccur. Some things that are going on... #1) I shut off the car, get out, lock the door by touching the handle. As I walk away, it rapid beeps. This happens about 1 in 50. And I even have video! #2) Radio shuts off - screen goes black - usually while driving and I must pull over and turn off/on the car. In one case this took two tries. In a few cases, the screen was dark on start up. Same fix - turn car off then on. Most recently, all my saved favorite stations were wiped out. #3) After a solid rain, the trunk will not open with keyfob. The next day, no problem. #4) With the keyfob left in the car overnight on the passenger seat, the driver's door will lock and won't let me in when touching the driver's side handle. The other 3 doors are open, so I have to crawl in to press the unlock button. Also this happens with about a 1 in 50 frequency, and I now keep a stick in the car to help me reach the unlock button. The car is garaged, no accidents, has 34,000 miles and I am coming up on the end of warranty. Basically, trying to decide if I should sell it and buy a Honda. Your responses here will decide it's fate.
Wowza - if I"m reading the OP right (do you really leave the fob on the passenger seat overnight that often?) I think the beeping, the screens blanking and the other things that are intermittent at the rate of about once for every 50 drive sessions, that car is trying to tell you something.
#1. I think I've seen this maybe once before. #2. Next time it happens, push the volume button on the radio and hold it for 10 seconds, anything happen? Don't restart the car before doing this. While driving, while the radio is out. #3. Get a hose, start spraying the trunk in different locations and test open it. So let's say you've been spraying the right side for a minute and now it doesn't open, great, you've narrowed your problem down. #4. Stop doing weird shit like leaving your key in the car. Modern cars rely on key proximity for a lot of stuff. Keeping the key inside the vehicle may prevent the computer from deep sleep. I know this isn't the answer you want but right now you have bigger issues (1-3) to deal with so stop doing things that create additional issues.
No repair attempts despite my asking. I even went to Toyota com and filed a complaint. They cannot replicate the problem, as they are intermittent (e.g., once a month). Although I have video of one (maybe two) of these issues, there's nothing they can do until the issue is acute and happens on demand.
