Per the headlines from Toyota, the 2025 RAV4 Prime will now be called the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid.

    2025 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid - Toyota USA Newsroom

No changes in design, powertrain, battery or available grades, just a name change.

Still has an 18.12 kWh battery, 302 HP (225 kW) powertrain, 38 mpg (6.2 L/100 km) combined EPA, 42 mile (68 km) All Electric Range (AER), 2.5L engine, and SE and XSE grades. So it "changes its name to RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), or simply RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid". This aligns it with the rest of the world, like Europe where it has always been known as RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid. The Toyota logo also no longer has the blue halo and the Prime logo on the back is now PHEV. Starting price is now $43,865 SE grade versus $43,690 for 2024 RAV4 Prime (a $175 increase).

Good, now it doesn't sound like it was named after an Amazon subscription.

I like that idea for communication clarity.
Now if we could only get Chrysler to call Pacifica a Plug-In Hybrid too (instead of Hybrid), we'd have some better overall clarity.

My son’s RAV4 Prime says Plug-in Hybrid on the side badges. & Prime on the hatch lid. The badging change will be easy.

My son traded his 2015 Prius V for his RAV4 Prime. He takes his small dogs to agility events. For outdoor events, he uses the remote start so he can keep his dogs in the car in air conditioned comfort.

Even though we bought an awd Rav4 XSE in 2022, I would have seriously considered the new Corolla Cross Hybrid for about the same money we paid for the v in 2011.

The Corolla has the 5th gen dual injection 2.0L with 196 hp, awd and their 3.0 safety system which is far superior than the 13 year old v when new. Plus 45 mpg combined rather than 42.

    At my local dealer
