I watch South Main Auto frequently, a YouTube independent mechanic in New York State. He deals with everything, has experience with most every make and generation, domestic and import.

Equally important, unusual/new experiences don’t faze him; he goes at it carefully, logically, prone to remark “we’re learning this one together”. He also stays cognizant of the $’s, tries to steer repairs in the most cost-effective course, and avoid dropping customers in a money pit, if it’s a lost cause.

someone like that would be my criteria, more so than experience with my specific car, though both are considerations.
