    Hello folks....
Attached are pics of my encounter with a deer 6 days ago. My car is totaled. I am waiting on Allstate for numbers. I do plan to buy it back and fix it myself.

My ? Is how can I keep my hybrid battery changed while I am waiting?
I have put it into maintenance mode but the battery dropped 1 bar while the engine was running. I quickly powered it down. I don't want to run the hybrid battery down.

looks like the damage is just cosmetic, why not just let the car charge the hybrid battery and 12v on its own? 1 bar or 2 bars doesn't matter, the car will make sure it's charged at a proper level. Turn off the AC so that it will not drain the battery that fast.

Thank you for the input guys. I just gingerly took it out for a 20 min drive on a back road. I know the monitor is just that, a monitor but I do feel better seeing all green bars when I park it in the driveway waiting for Allstate to finalize the claim.

Any idea on what they will want for me to buy it back?

That car should be totaled out and you should be able to keep it right where it is in your driveway Tell them they're not taking it anywhere buying it back what are you kidding buying what back I already own it It's sitting in my driveway You mean you want them to give you $5,000 and you give them $500 or something yeah see how that sounds even 3,000? They would just take the car send it to their auction because some moron will pay 1800 for it because that's just how silly people are today in my day that would be a $500 buy at the auction or less used to do it all the time and then everybody wanted to get in the game and they all outbid each other until prices went stupid and now here we are but you already own the car you're just trying to get them to pay you and allow you to keep the car I don't need my insurance company to pay me now if this was another person's fault that's another whole story I'll go get pain and suffering and see a chiropractor I have their numbers in my phone and I'm keeping my car because it's at my address My tow truck driver brought it there I drove it home The insurance company is never getting it for any reason whatsoever that's life rules for me not just some temporary nonsense this is why things away kind of are the way they are because everybody's gotten real well kind of ignorant but you already have the car you make the other people's insurance company pay you for time damages pain and suffering whatever it is you can work out Don't you have any lawyer friends to instruct you on your state and what to do but you have your car so it's not going anywhere they can't just come take it they're client hit you and damaged your car and now they should just give you some kind of silly lump sum of money which won't be that much because it's a 20-year-old car and you're done if that's what you want if you want the car to go away then they'll give you 600 more dollars or something.

It needs a hood, a bumper cover, and one headlight.

    Maybe nothing else?

The passenger side fender might be bent too, but if it is, not by much. The radiator support seems to be straight, and even the fender liner and bumper shock absorber (styrofoam) appear to be intact. The radiator should still be good, unless you got really unlucky and it was poked by an antler or part of the broken headlight. I forget what that big white tank does, but it looks good too.

You can find all of those broken parts at a junk yard, although finding them in that color might take a little searching.

Radiator was spared. You are correct. Hood, headlight, bumper cover, and possibly a fender not exactly sure yet but I believe it can be persuaded back in place.

Washer fluid reservoir is damaged also.

All in all.....not a lot of money to make it look like a Prius again.

Hoping to button it up with Allstate tomorrow.

    Really?

The washer fluid reservoir, part number 8531547060, is all the way at the back of the engine compartment. Did the hood buckle down on it?

Or are you referring to the big white plastic resonator, part number 1789321030, in the right front corner, which is peeking out through the broken bumper cover?

It would be pretty wild if the resonator came out of that particular accident unscathed and the washer fluid reservoir was damaged.
