exactly. i'm driving a bolt now, and she likes it better than the hycam because of the higher seating position. she never cared for the prius, and the hycam is mostly for cruising.

I had a tow 1/2 mile away from the SuperChargers. In a hurry, I'd not accounted on a 95F degree day the car needing to cool the battery and associated higher load. This was just 'tuition in the school of hard knocks.'

I have a 2.3 gallon tank in the 2017 BMW i3-REx that I typically fill up when it is down to the last quarter tank.

My last 6 vehicles have been GM, but my last 4 company vehicles have been 2 Priuses, 1 Ford, and (currently) a Jeeplet.

Out of the 10 - the 4 pickup trucks have been the 'best tool for the job.'

Anyone that thinks that (in 2020) there's a fundamental difference between automotive (or many other) 'brands' is a victim of nostalgia:

Not likely much worse than my 1969 Corolla 2 speed automatic. I think that one did not make it to the US. When the engine idled, the corners of the front bumper vibrated up & down. I bought it used when I was raised in Canada & then survived a freeway sandwich.

 

They stopped making those when Regan was President.
I actually owned a Chevy Spectrum back then, which was a rebadged 'suzu.

Damn good car by 80's standards.
I used the throttle like an on/off switch, learned how to do e-brake turns, and the only time the car failed in service was pilot induced.
It was a hideous gold color, which was excellent 'geezer camouflage' in those horrible 55-mph speed limit days.
IIRC, I got something like mid 30's mpg.

A shipmate on my first submarine got a Honda CRX at the same time and racked up enough points in my 4 patrols to put his license in serious jeopardy.
Me? I couldn't say for certain how fast those 'suzus would go - because at that time our government mandated those "see-no-evil" 85mph speedometers.

 

I remember another acronym for FORD, F-ix O-r R-epair D-aily. None of this is really true though, because all cars suck to some degree. I don't know much about Fords. The only US vehicle I ever bought I still have, a '96 Plymouth Grand Voyager. It's a "running around town" car now since the transmission could fail at any moment.
(The LeBaron was a gift from my parents to my spousal unit)

 

After over 25 years of Toyotas, i disagree, if you choose wisely. My 2000 Tundra & 2008 Corolla are both still going strong. Other than serpentine belts & headlights, the only thing they have needed is regular maintenance.

 

My Dad bought two Model A Fords thinking it would teach his sons mechanics. They taught us "DON'T DO THAT AGAIN!"

Later, Dad gave my wife and I a Chevette ... "DON'T DO THAT AGAIN!"
