I was having an issue with my car. As I would come to a stop, just before, as I was slowing down, the car would jerk and jolt forwards. It’d be worse the faster I was going, and the harsher I’d be braking. (I try to brake slowly and gradually of course, not harshly). It would feel like I was being hit from behind the car. Thankfully, this has now subsided, but I now have the yellow VSC, ABS and (!) on my dash… I’ve ordered a Autel, but hasn’t arrived yet, so can’t read error codes at the moment. Help please!
Thank you. This seems awfully complex and time consuming for me. I’ll wait for my Autel. I wasn’t really asking about the error codes. In more curious about the odd behaviour.
Again, this post wasn’t so much about the error codes. What about the physical issue, which has now resolved, but error codes instead?
Your car is brake by wire meaning a computer is opening and closing valves in the master cylinder to allow a hydraulic pump and accumulator to pressurize the brake calipers. In most cases regenerative braking where the wheels are driving a generator do most of the braking. So your system was failing at the time.
But, at the time the car was malfunctioning, there were no warnings on the dash. Now, the car is not malfunctioning when braking, but error cars are displayed as above. Odd?
I just ran a diagnostic using mini Autel MaxiAP AP200, and no fault codes. But the VSC, ABS and (!) lights are on…

It looks like you did not register or link the Autel AP200 to your Toyota Prius. You can not run a full scan until you have done this, and the Toyota data file is downloaded to your phone. Maybe @mr_guy_mann can help with the app.
Yes, I did download the data file I believe. My app looks like those screenshots. I’m using MaxiAP200, version 1.47 on iOS. It just said 0 errors…
I think that you do not have something set up correctly in the app. All the vehicle information for your Prius is not showing in the screenshot that you uploaded. Something is not right. I do not own or use the Autel AP200, so I am not able to help you any further. Edit: Take a look at the attached Autel AP200 Quick Reference Guide for North America
There are a few threads on C1235 which the OP should probably read. Unfortunately the ones I read faded out without a "this fixed it" at the end. Anyway, definitely go have a look to see what is stuck to the RH front speed sensor.
Codes cleared. warning lights off now, and the cars back to doing the jerking on slow braking before coming to a stop, weird! I need change a drop link, ball joint and lower engine mount, so I’ll check the speed sensor while I’m at it. PS speed sensor and ABS sensor same thing?
Get a dealership to diagnose and propose a course of action, or is that just crazy talk in this day'n age?
