Is it possible to leave a key for the gen5 PP in the vehicle if its in a metal box enclosure and then lock the doors ?

    Yes/No.

Yes, if you are doing this with two* keyfobs. One fob in the faraday box and one fob with you outside the vehicle. But you won't be able to lock the car if the only fob is in the box.

If you absolutely need to do this with only one fob, remove the physical key from the fob and lock the doors with that. That works whether or not the fob is in a box.

Will the fob placed in the metal box in the vehicle allow the vehicle to go to 'sleep' ?
Removing the mechanical key from the fob, placing fob in metal box in vehicle and using the door lock switch on the door to lock the vehicle before closing the door should also work ?

As long as it's a real faraday box(built to prevent RF signals from getting in or out of the box), I can't imagine it would prevent the car going into full sleep. Can't guarantee an ordinary metal box would work.

I don't think you can use the door lock switch for this. It won't lock while the door is open, and it auto unlocks when you open the door. I think if you try to use the switch next to the door handle while the door is open, it will auto unlock after a second. I believe the only way to lock the door is to close it and use the mechanical key.

I'm about to head out for dinner, so I'll do a bit of real-world testing to confirm.

Okay, I was a little wrong. This should work:

    1. Power off.
    2. Fob in box.
    3. Open door and lock all doors using the regular button.
    4. Exit vehicle and close door.

I edited my post above to streamline it a bit. As long as the door is open and the car doesn't sense a fob inside the car, you can use the regular button to lock all doors and it won't automatically unlock when you close the door.

Can't you also just put the key to sleep? Hold down Lock and press twice on unlock at the same time. The key will flash a couple times and becomes inactive. Beats a Faraday box and saves battery.

I have also left an active key fob in the car and locked it from the outside with the 2nd fob and it seemed to lock the car without unlocking automatically but maybe I should double check that next time.

Should work on all new gen remotes. I have a Gen 5 SE.

You can also try it by putting your key to sleep and walk up to the car and try to unlock it by touching the handle. It won't unlock because it detects no key. Once in a while I forget to wake up my key and I'm there wondering why my car won't unlock.

Is keyfob unlock key sequence the same key sequence as lock ?

It's woken up by pressing any button. This is in the manual (Before driving -> Opening, closing and locking the doors -> Smart key system)
