latest # of HOV stickers issued?

I just sent in my application today. I'm probably too late, but it's worth a shot!

F I N A L L Y!! Got Stickers today 01/04/2007 Number# 860xx

 

Opened mailbox this evening (1/4/07), dug through mail, saw the DMV envelope, my insides jumped...
Dried the car off due to the rain, put the stickers on, goin in the HOV lane tomorrow, even if I don't need to!!!

So it looks like the DMV mass mailed all the stickers.

wait so the numbers are going to be over 80k? I thought they did 70k last year and only 10k this year? I hope my application gets accepted, but since I will be buying a new car, once mine gets out of the shop I will resend the application for replacement stickers and the new car Vin number. I doubt anyone checks the sticker number with the vin or license plate but just incase.

 

For those who have received stickers recently, do the numbers match the number in the letter sent by the DMV in early December?? Just curious since the number in my letter (no stickers yet :angry: ) is in the 80xxx range. Thanks.

I sent my application in on 11/30 and my check has not been cashed. Is there any way to find out if they received my application? I called the DMV and they said they couldn't help.

 

Got mine two days ago. Applied in October when I got the plates. Weee Haaa see ya all in the carpool lane.

 

I am pretty worried. I wasn't going to get the stickers because I don't use the car for commuting, but then when they extended the usage I figured I better do it, you never know what the future brings. Then right after I sent in my application, my personalized plates arrived and had to be picked within 30 days. Now I am worried that when they check my registration it won't show because of the plate change.

 

I sent my application in the mail on 12/21 and my check hasn't been deposited yet as of 1/6. I wanted to know if anyone else sent their application around that time and if anyone knows if the stickers have already run out (and when). If I'd called the dealership everyday to get the plate number instead of waiting for the plates in the mail I could've sent my app. about 3 days sooner. I hope those 3 days didn't cost me the stickers.

My check was cashed on 12-22-06 and I didn't recieve a letter like some people.

When checks are cashed, whether or not to worry, etc. I'm in this boat too. My check was cashed on Dec 19th and no stickers yet, never got a letter. An odd part is that my plates never arrived (car purchased around 11/19/2006) but the registration did arrive... So I did have the plate number on the application.

I figure at this point there is nothing I can do -- either I get them or I don't. I did what I could already.

 

FYI, there are still stickers left as of today even after the applications that they have received but not fully processed. The lady wouldn't/couldn't tell me how many, but I think this means that anyone who is in limbo right now will get one....

 

I spoke with a dealer today who said they were projecting to have stickers until May timeframe. Is this guy full of it trying to get a sale or does that sound reasonable? I'm looking to get a prius now but don't want to buy a new one and get stuck without a sticker.

Yeah, ask that dealer if he is willing to guarantee that you will have a sticker in May and that dealer will quickly be scurrying for cover under the nearest rock. Based on the sticker registration numbers being reported, my guess is that there is at least a couple thousand stickers left (and no, I will not guarantee that). So, you could very well squeak by...You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya?

not to cause mass panic. but i called the Sacramento DMV office today and was told there are about 2000 stickers left and around 2000 backlogged applications still waiting to be processed.

one of my main reasons to get the prius would be to get the sticker and was all set to go and pick one up tomorrow, now not so sure anymore.

does anybody know how long it takes to get your plate number if you use some sort of financing to purchase the car? I was told that if you use financing there is a lien on the car and it delays the processing and registration to get the license plate number? apparently if you pay cash then you can get the number the same day?

I paid cash for my Prius on Dec 22nd and received plates Jan 4th. I only got them then because I decided to call the dealership to see if he had heard anything. he called me back 30 mins later to tell me he had them!!! I am sure they lay around on some ones desk....I AM SOOO MAD!! :angry:
As a result I mailed in my app on the 5th of Jan.
I have learnt that they can get you the plates on the day you purchase the car. Make sure you speak to the person in charge of the DMV at the dealership and NOT THE SALES PERSON!
