    Let's face it, the slowing demand is really toyota's long time excuse. Sales would increase for toyota if they had more good US made plug-ins.

    This really means that toyota realized they needed more time improve the vehicle to catch up to the competition. I would not be surprised if it turned out to be 2027.

    You mean Toyo - relying on the tortoise & the hair fable isn't going to win the EV race?
    shocking
    yea - we're still waiting on their promised / delayed solid state battery that was supposed to upset the industry.

    But that's ok ... they're claiming EV sales are somewhat tepid & thus being tardy fits into their tortoise philosophy (sigh)

    Only thing is ;

    There comes a time when every steam locomotive manufacturer, no matter how great & efficient it is .... there's a reason the rail road industry switched to diesel Electric.

    Eh, I trust them to know when they can put something competitive on the market.

    They don't need another Mirai.

    Plug ins across the board with some range, take over the market. Perfect solution to get gas stations begging you to buy gas.

    I'm pretty sure Toyota's upper management team is aware that they need help on the software side of the car - enter BYD. Software fixes and updates needs to move faster than the old style Toyota can move. BYD builds EVs; but they call themselves a 'technology company' first!
    Toyota did the same when they wanted AWD & safety sense technology from Subaru; build on something that works instead of reinventing the wheel.
    It's a smart move on Toyota's part but how will future US laws designed to limit Chinese technology from entering the USA effect imported BYD enhanced Toyota products? I believe that we are Toyota's largest export market by volume.

    For anything except the trucks, Toyota would be smart to go with the hybrids and hybrid-plug ins for the next few years. AND go back to the V-8's for the Tundra's and V-6's for the Tacoma that are NOT hybrid or turbo.
    Toyota should just let the BZ go the way of the Marai and the Scions!
    I think the market is ripe for smaller vehicles...gosh, even the Camry's are WAY bigger than they used to be. Bring back the smaller sedans for crying out loud!! Cressida, Celica, and Yaris!!

    Not just software. Sounds like the next Corolla will be using the BYD hybrid system.

    Must work pretty good if Toyota is ready to back the warranty on it for a staggeringly high-volume car
