    [新型RAV4]は1.5Lターボが主力に!? トヨタ主力SUVの次なる一手は!? - 自動車情報誌「ベストカー」
These guys (BestCarWeb.jp) have been pretty good with scoops in the past so I'll put this in.

According to the article, looks like the RAV4 with use one of the new 1.5L turbo engines revealed in June, and it looks like it'll go all hybrid. Article states there will be 2 hybrids, normal small battery one and a PHEV (Prime) variety. Since this is like the the 4th best selling car in the North American market, they'll have to hit it out of the park.

    Partial translation:
" So what will the next-generation RAV4 be like? In terms of design, it is expected to successfully incorporate Toyota's latest front design, the Hammerhead, into the RAV4's unique look. The wildness of the RAV4 is brought about by its clear, solid press lines and powerful grille design, but even with the latest face, it will be possible to express its strength in this way.

In addition, the company predicts that the body size will be one rank larger, prioritizing the demand in the North American market. The overall width of 1865mm feels large for a Japanese vehicle, but is rather small in North America. As the younger brother of the Highlander (overall width 1930mm), the next-generation RAV4 will be given impressive front and rear fenders and will likely be widened to around 1900mm.

The powertrain will be centered on hybrids, just like the current model, and a plug-in hybrid will also be included in the lineup (called the "RAV4 Prime" in the U.S.). Although there will be no major changes to fuel economy or driving performance, there will likely be improvements in various areas. They will likely take on the challenge of a multi-pathway approach to suit the characteristics of the North American and Japanese markets.

It is also expected to be equipped with the new inline 4-cylinder engine of the next-generation electric power unit that Toyota first unveiled in May 2024. Toyota is currently developing three types of engines: a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine, and a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine.

As future environmental regulations are expected to result in a significant reduction in the output of existing engines, this engine is designed to be more electrically rich (mainly battery-powered, with engine support) than conventional hybrids.

Of these, the next-generation RAV4 will likely be equipped with a 1.5L turbo. It is conceivable that there will be variations, ranging from a low-cost model with a reduced battery capacity (similar to the existing HEV) to a high-end model with a larger battery capacity (similar to the existing PHEV)."

Not exactly sure if it'll actually show up for the 2025 model year but we'll see.

Model Year is a US thing. If the article is talking 2025 production starts, then it will likely be 2026MY for here.

But will it have those new long-awaited batteries they've been predicting for years?

Solid state from Toyota is suppose to start in hybrids, but I think it will show up in Japan market cars first. That is what they did with the bipolar NiMH.

There is already a 2024 RAV4 Prime in the US ad a PHEV. My son has an XSE trim. To me. the OP implied the PHEV would be a new offering. It has been currently available but in short supply and only from certain dealers.

Nah probably lost in translation. I think the article implies the 2026 RAV4 Prime (now known as the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid starting for the 2025 model year) will not only have the new engine and be an all hybrid lineup but will also be available as a plug-in as well. They are not in that short a supply here, but they don't last long on the lot either. A relative just purchased a 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE.

We have the 2020 RAV4HV averaging 40 MPG approaching 60,000 miles.

It seems Prius was not enough to cause Hybrids to become popular. But now Sienna, Camry, RAV4,.everything is Hybrid and now people starting to "get it". Somewhere around 2003 there was mini-car show at my workplace at lunchtime, and Toyota rep was telling me all models would be hybrid option someday. Well it took about 20 years, but it happened. I was holding out for Camry Hybrid but somehow was able to adapt to the wacky Prius instead. Loved it. There was a Fiskar Karma too I recall.

There’s still a waiting list in Canada for Prime/PHEV models. Hybrids are down to 1-2 months except Prius.

Toyota had already announced that for 2025 model year, they will have Hybrid or EV options available for all models. I just put down a deposit on a 2025 Camry XLE. the Camry line is all hybrid. I need to replace my 2017 Prius that was t-boned & totalled :( The car protected me as the only occupant though. No match against an accelerating 4Runner.

No worries. What are you currently driving>?

I am buying the Camry from Miller Toyota in Manassas, after dealing with then for 20 years. Toyota Sam Lee is a top notch, honest salesman. Like most dealers though, they are only selling ar full list price.

That was a rough week overall, The day before, I lost my job,. After the severance , I am considering retirement or partial retirement. The day after, my son found his oldest Papillon dog had passed away.

Things are working out though and could have been much worse. I appreciate your concern. I was driving alone & unhurt but the Prius door was no match for a 4Runner accelerating into a left hand turn. I saw some flying glass, he saw my side curtain airbag. My wife had considered riding with me that day but chose not to.

We did go to Sam Lee in Manassas 2020 for RAV4HV, I think on your recommendation, when the 2006 Prius Batt died. I believe our orig 2006 Prius salesman was retired by then. We bought March 1 and then the RAV4HV sat for COVID shutdown, $28k can't touch that today probably.

We started when our oldest son saw a good mention here & he bought his 2005 Prius from Sam.
After that, I bought a 2008 Corolla though an internet ad from a different salesman but Sam insisted on saying "Hi: & talking,.
Our other son bought a 2010 Corolla from Sam. He now has a honda Civic and wishes he still had a Toyota but in-law politics are involved :(
I later bought my 2017 Prius 2 from Sam. He let us know this was was coming in. We said we would test drive & buy if we liked it. Sam spent a half hour inside the car demonstrating all the features before we started the test drive. Sam later said that is his favorite part of a sale.

I them has top notch service department experiences for the wiring harness inspection & re-insulation. After they did the recall, it was expanded to a second harness. I took it back in & they did the other one even though they could not claim the recall charges a second time.

He now put in the work to sell us the 2025 Camry XLE. The current sales policy concentrates on local customers only. He escalated to let us give a deposit over the phone instead of having to drove over 100 miles each way to give them my credit card information.

Toyota Sam Lee is dedicated and works 6 days a week, taking Wednesdays off. Until a while ago, he had a Gen 1 Prius but it got rear ended & totalled.
