I recently bought a 2006 Prius G Touring imported from Japan. Love it so far as my daily driver. But the wiper blades that came on it are in rough shape. The sales rep at the Toyota dealer worked with me to find replacement refills for the rear and passenger's side wipers (85214-47010 and 85214-50061 respectively), but I've had a hell of a time finding a replacement that fits the driver's side. Both the dealer and NAPA had some that were the right length (600mm) but the wrong thickness. Anyone have any leads on what part number the driver's side wiper refill for a RHD 2006 Prius might be? Or experiences with third-party wipers on the same model?
Would it be easier to replace the whole wiper blade with NA ones so that you can use NA wiper blade inserts??
Bingo. You're looking for rubbers It sounds like the part that cleans the windshield look for the plastic part that holds the rubber that clips onto the metal arm that does the wiping maybe that'll save you a buttload of trouble I use Rain-X hybrid blade assemblies 26 and 18 I think is the length and when the steering wheel moves I don't think the wipers change do they I have to literally go look at a right hand drive model but I think just the steering wheel and stuff on the console gets crisscrossed I think the windshield and the wiper arm stay the same don't they But I haven't looked in a while It really doesn't interest me a lot to me the steering wheel just moves over and you're driving funny but I think that's correct so you'd be able to use the Rain-X hybrid blade assemblies but I don't know if they're in the EU or the UK or wherever you are there'll be some other name I'm sure I would try to stay away from the dealer but maybe in your country that's a thing that you do usually you go to a well-versed parts store they'll come out to your car and look and go oh geez no problem then tell them you want the hybrid assembly it has like an armadillo shell over the rubber wiper it's not a beam type blade You don't want that at least I don't
The front brushes may differ. The rear brush is the same for all regions. You can simply change not the entire brush, but only its part - the rubber. 85291-44070 Blade, Front Wiper, Winter, Rh 85291-44090 Blade, Front Wiper, Winter, Rh 85212-68010 Blade, Fr Wiper, Rh 85222-13040 Blade, Fr Wiper, Lh 85222-13041 Blade, Fr Wiper, Lh 85291-44080 Blade Assy, Windshield Wiper 85214-44140 Rubber, Wiper, Rh 85214-50060 Rubber, Wiper, Lh 85242-47010 Blade, Rr Wiper 85242-47020 Blade, Rr Wiper 85214-47010 Rubber, Rear Wiper
Thank you! I actually found this page at Toyodiy (amazing site, glad to have found it) that lists the same as what you posted here. Can't link it here unfortunately.
Well I went to the local Toyota dealer and purchased one 85214-44140 blade refill for the driver's side, and was disappointed to find that it didn't fit. So in the end, I did what I probably should have done in the first place, and bit the bullet on aftermarket wiper blades. I measured the original blades at 400mm and 600mm for the passenger and driver sides respectively. So these are the ones I got: "Reflex Perfect Fit All Season Wiper Blades, 2-pk. 24inch & 16inch, Hook 9mm." It was a bit more expensive at around $25 per wiper, but they do a much better job than any Toyota OEM wipers I've had on my cars.
Yes I like the Rain-X hybrid It's kind of got a exoskeletal frame over the rubber but it has capability to bend with the beam as it bends do a little bit better in the winter with these anyway and I like them very much I don't know our Prius here run 26 and 18 I think or something like that but close enough they have them in all those sizes right at the parts store or Walmart and yes they do better than most of the Toyotas although the Toyota does have the hybrid type wiper blades now that you can get from them and they do pretty well they used to be relatively competitive too but I'm sure they've all gone up at the Toyota dealer
