if i buy a used abs from a prius v same year will i have issues with coding or programming or will it work without too much fuss. was going to buy the tis on ebay thanks
First the accurate way to determine your part number (pn) is based on the car’s vin. You can sometimes verify your correct pn via an online Toyota dealer who requires your vin to find parts. There are at least two part numbers for a 2013 v, one for 16” tires and another for 17” tires. A 2013 hatchback won’t work either. Therefore it is essential a used part comes from a 2013 v with the same size tires. The next problem can be the seller which is typically a salvage yard. The embossed number on the part is a housing number not a part number. As a result many sellers incorrectly assume any part with the same embossed number is the same part. Which can include both tire size versions and all hatchback parts. If the salvage yard documents the vin of the donor car you could verify their brake booster part number. Of course these failures are common and were a factory flaw Toyota acknowledged and replaced free for ten years. Which means a used part could be bad as well. The book labor for a trained tech is six hours which is a lot of work to waste with a wrong or bad part. Part of the time is a special brake booster flush and calibration with Techstream or other high end scanner. This work is the same if new, rebuilt or used but some diyer’s get stopped here. Finally Hybridpit in the SoCal area has a mail in rebuild service for $600. Given a new v brake booster is more expensive than a new hatchback’s part, rebuilt might be the budget option I would consider if diy was my choice.
i just looked at their website site and the listing has no mention for the c1391 code being able to be fixed. i left a message. i was going to source from lkq. so vin and wheel size is provided. i do all my own stunts so im not worried about the scan tool side of things. my car is 2013 350k miles so recall is out of question. shit it may have had the recall lol.
ended up throwing a hail mary off lkq. haha. car was a 2013 with the same wheels and bumper leather as mine so figured it was a 5 wagon, i assume mine is a 5 wagon too, idk fck it. car had like 130k miles so hoping recall was done, i will update soon, i am awaiting for part to arrive. Was 500 after shipping and tax for an accumulator & acctuator combo, if i get 30k miles out of it id be happy. car is a total sht box. 2013 V 350k mile taxi cab. got it for 1,995 lmao, drove it home whining like a cat shttin a razor blade. compressor and acuator pump screamin.
Even if it’s the right parts you still need to do the special Techstream flush and calibrations. Hopefully the 350k mile taxi engine does not have a blown head gasket which is common and will make the engine run really bad.
Hybrid Pitstop still lists the brake repair as available. The item is listed for the liftback prius, but if you read the details there is a claim that they'll do the v version as well. Website may be out of date- interested parties would do well to verify.
i called them direct and that is what they told me, they were having some issues. sucks. hopefully they figure it out
something tells me from the couple of missing motor mount bolts that the engine may not be original. hehe. Dont worry though theres this bars head gasket sealer. What a guy, somebody get bars a beer on me. If youve never heard of it or used it, thank me later, your heater core may not be too happy but atleast you can still make it to work so you can keep rat racing!!! wohooo, no seriously though i had some pretty incredible success with it for anyone who may really need it. look it up. and secondly, i have a snap on solus legend jupiter solar system mode of nebula scan tool that i am hoping will work, otherwise i gotta ride the uber eats bench a few more days to get a boot leg tis off fleabag. But hey who comes up with these names for snap on scanners jeez.
wish me luck part gets delivered today and i am negatively broke because of this car, hopefully everything goes smooth so i can give it a nice facebook marketplace dump when the tittle arrives haha
no, hopefully i do not have to haha jeez man stop, youre going to jinx me. i deal with enough sht on this car already haha. if it did pop and i sealed it i would tell buyer, i dont lie about shit. my car does not have a bad HG though haha. Was saying though i have had success with bars in the past on other cars.
so i swapped only the actuator today, did the whole bleed thing blah blah, no lights on dash and motor is not coming on every 2 seconds like it was before. the pump does come on like every 1-4/5 times i hit the brakes. no codes or lights, just wondering if this is normal or is an indicator of something?
