Any plans or timeline for the Plug-In Battery to switch to sodium?

3 have been installed @ Hybrid Pit so far with success. Owners of them are really liking the bump in MPG and stability in the overall function of the power train since. (These have all been regular V3 models, not the GT since it is not available yet for public consumption for another month). Long term, we should all remain cautiously optimistic for the community at large's sake because this has great potential to be far greater than the Lithium option.

With very little seat time with them, I can say they run really cool. Like on a 100 degree day, they peak at around 95 degrees at each of the 3 temp sensors and the one vehicle (2012) with a tired engine at 230k was still easily getting 50-52 mpg with A/C blasting and not taking it too easy on the test drive.

Sodium chemistry batteries are difficult to sort through and source for the hobbiest EV markets. Historically before diyelectriccar failed there were individuals in China that would organize a group buy to a us entity.

Has anyone reached out to the 2 remaining entities on this front?

If full specs exist along with cycle and temperature graphs there are still individuals with conversions that would take a risk on these. Guessing openinverter folks and one other forum for ebike/ motorcycles I can’t think of at the moment

For what? You have absolutely NOTHING to do with my decision to get it.

You implied you had something to do with my decision.
You certainly didn't. You are very careless in your decisions.
I would say you hurt sales.

"I" know, but you apparently don't.

Personally if the car isn’t throwing codes I wouldn’t worry about it.
If it is throwing codes and you have a grid charger discharger I would waste some of my time to keep an existing battery running as long as reasonable before getting another OEM NIMH battery.

Anything not OEM is very much for tinkers and hobbyists who like to experiment, test and modify. If you just want a daily driver I would let others go first and report back after someone puts 50,000 miles plus on one of these new packs.

Sodium is on the young bleeding edge and very exciting but all the early adopter risks apply

Using the Prolong system will likely extend the life of your battery pack.
It worked for about 3 years for me.
It's best to use it BEFORE you start having issues.

Running the V3 GT now for 6 days, so far first impressions are up 5-6mpg over the Lithium V2.5. 56 mpg. It wants to coast in EV WAY longer on flat ground or in light traffic. When it gets to 80%+ charge it will run the engine efficiently to bleed some of the energy off if you keep charging it.

Also the pack temps will actually start cooling down up to 6 degrees after a long spell in EV due to the design of the case and the copper sheets inside..very good heat dissipation. The power graph is much more linear, similar to the stock Nickel battery and I believe will be more robust for heavier users as well as hypermilers.

If I am getting 56 mpg in a V...I can only image what a hatchback with a light throttle will get. All I know is poor Jack is swamped with orders and doing his best to get things sped up. If you've ordered one from any of the 3rd party sellers PLEASE..have patience!

It's been three months for mine and about 10,000 miles on the battery. Coming from my previous pack which was a version 2 I've noticed the same thing regarding heat. The batteries definitely seem to run cooler than the previous pack. It could just be my butt dyno but I have had two different people say the car feels punchier in acceleration and "smoother" when it transitions to to gas motor from the electric. Overall, I'm really enjoying this pack.
