My windshield broke 2017 base model in Canada
Is there anything to watch out for can anyone do the replacement ? Is there any calibrating needed for the cam/sensor ?
I was quoted $450 CAD from a reputable windshield repair place.

Toyota have a special windshield so that the HUD will work properly - it needs to be able to reflect off the windshield without giving you a double image.

On your trim, I don't think you have HUD or rain sensor, but the front-facing camera needs to be calibrated. It is not difficult and I have read that some glass places can perform this. Make sure your glass shop can do it. If not, you may have to take your car to a Toyota dealer to have the camera calibrated, but it may cost you a lot more than the glass shop will charge you. I had my 2017 Prius Prime windshield replaced, and the Toyota dealer charged me 150USD for the calibration alone. However, my insurance paid for all.

I scratched up the windshield of my 2020 Prime LS (base model) with a rag that had some grit (DOH!), so I'm going to try polishing it out with ceramic oxide and buffer wheel.

If that fails or I REALLY screw it up somehow (heard you can crack glass if heat builds up) how much is replacement so the Radar Cruise (my fave feature) still works?

Will a regular old skool glass guy even know Wth about this?

Will be getting replacement windshield number four tomorrow morning. Arizona is rough on auto glass.

That went well. Sure do like a fresh piece of glass. The point of impact was interesting this time (attached) taken over the lower quarter of the passenger glass. The backdrop for the photo is the white interior of my windshield solar shield which is wrinkled from years of folding. It almost looks like I might have caught a couple of fractures caused by pressure instead of blunt force. There were a couple of scuffs in the apparent center of the impact, but no typical star. It was very loud, and I didn't see anything flying off in any direction. Was passing one of those semi-sized gravel trucks with a clamshell dump at probably 80 mph on the interstate.

I see I have 5 more posts to get me to 1000, so let me expound. My Prius has over 110K on the ticker now, in not quite 4 years. Three sets of tires. Excellent long term 55.3 mpg, 49 mpg on the way to work and 62 mpg on the way back. Have had reasonably good service from my Toyota dealer, in addition to maintenance I do. Just replaced my 12V last week. Four years on a 12V in the desert is pretty good. The older generation AGM battery, well away from the engine compartment, would last maybe 7 to 8 years. Very reliable and comfortable commuting overall.
