Looking for buying the dust/splash shields/guards for brakes as they have rusted out from road chemicals.

Anyone knows where to buy them online?

Well when you replace the brakes did you put slotted dimpled rotors and all that nonsense they're about the same cost now is the regular most of the kids like the above If so just leave your backing plates off now air flows through your wheels good and keeps your brakes cool which on the Prius is moot but if your break backing plates are ate up like that wow I guess you could buy them from Toyota You can buy them from Southern cars I mean I would imagine if you bought two hub assemblies from a junkyard down in Georgia which is some of the largest Prius junk yards on the planet they sell on eBay You would get two real nice backing plates for the front anyway I guess you could do the same for the rear they may be available from Toyota or amiyama but I imagine they might cost it a little bit 40 bucks a piece or something sounds reasonable. I never put them back on when I change my hubs I got a stack of them over here in the corner but they're mostly generation too

Well, I looked up if it is a good idea to delete them and it seems to be not, especially where I live. I am in Southern Ontario where they poor chemicals and sand/dirt mix on the road that eat cars like nothing else. A brand new rotors look like a hundred years old rusted junk after only one winter. Right front side dust covers started to rattle and fell apart, right back side got completely loose, rubbed against rotor and rattled on every smallest road bump. Left side covers are all rusted too, but did not fall out yet.

So I did order them on amayama for about cad$15/ea plus shipping, but one week later the order is still under management checking. I also ordered them locally from Scarborough Toyota Parts online for about cad$11/ea plus shipping and waiting some confirmation by email and did not receive any info yet. I am not sure if I will be able to get them there. Will look at ebay next if the above does not work, thanks for the tip.

Well I used to delete them in Western Massachusetts but kind of similar antics as Canada has but never had a problem I also use coayed rotors . And the like. Now I'm in North Carolina with four generation twos and all of them have the backing plates deleted when I do the hubs they come off oh well.

Good to know, thanks. Where do you get your coated rotors?

My online order for these brake shields to Scarborough Toyota parts dealer located in Toronto, ON was delivered in one week, which is quite impressive. It was first time I tried them and would now consider them in the future, their price for the parts was the lowest I could find online.

    Amayama's where I've been going:
    Index:
Toyota Prius - ZVW30L-AHXBBA complectation - Auto parts - Amayama
    Fronts:
Front disc brake caliper & dust cover for Toyota Prius ZVW30L - Genuine parts - Amayama
    Rears:
Rear disc brake caliper & dust cover for Toyota Prius ZVW30L - Genuine parts - Amayama

Amayama so far for me ships from either Japan or UAE. It'll highlight the cheapest combo of price/shipping, for each item, but it's often worthwhile to opt for the more expension option, if it keeps the shipping from just one country, avoiding multiple shipping charges.

So far me, the prices are cost/shipping ONLY, no extra taxes, duty, excise, delivery beak-wetting, whatever.

Just for giggles, phone up local dealership parts departments too, you might be pleasantly surprised.

If it's not too far gone, consider boiled linseed oil for rust prevention/arrest.

Don't these go behind the bearing/hub unit? If so, I highly doubt you'd want to reinstall a bearing after removing it so it may be best to either wait until you need bearings or just go ahead and do the bearings anyways.

    Hi Mendel,
Scarborough had better cost for the shields than Amayama, but this is not always the case, so I order parts from Amayama as well. Thanks for the linseed oil tip, I think I'll put it on new shields, the old ones are gone or mostly gone.
    Hi Eddie,
Yes, shields are behind the bearing hubs. I recently replaced the rear hubs so they are easy to remove without hammering and damaging them. The front hubs are still original, so I ordered new front bearing hubs from Amayama and will be replacing them and shields sometime in the future once they get noisy. My Prius is nearing 300k km, so should not be too far away. Just want to be prepared :).

Yeah Amayama is just worth a check; for various reasons their prices can be anywhere between much better and prohibitive. Never hurts to check with your nearby dealerships as well.
