Hey guys, first time posting here, but I have been reading off and on for a few years. I like this form because it seems to be pretty helpful to people. Thank you everyone who moderates, posts questions, and helpful responses. Some of them over time have helped me! Back to the topic at hand. I have a 2016 Prius Four Touring with 17-in rims. I would like to go down to a 15 inch rim to improve my ride and increase the gas mileage just a little bit. I am trying to get stock 15-in rims that will fit from another prius, do you guys have any suggestions for getting this cheap as possible? I like the OEM 15-in rims due to them being more aerodynamic then aftermarket. I could also trade somebody for my stock 17-in rims for their 15s if available. I live in the San Antonio, Texas area. Thank you!
Hopefully you'll find somebody to trade for your 17's, but have you considered just changing tires? We have no complaints with the ride / MPG on our '16 Three Touring on 17's. Had since new. Now has 85K miles. Still getting 55-60 MPG here in Colorado. Currently running Michelin X-Ice Snow 215 / 45 R17 for the last 15K miles. No complaints.
Just be sure to get wheels with the following specs. This is OEM on my 2021. 15x5.5 Wheel 100mm bolt pattern, 5 bolts +40mm Offset 4.893” Backspacing Uses a standard tire size of 195-65-15
Plug-In Prius rims (model year 2012~2015) are compatible, AND look good, unlike the stock 15” rims (either Gen 3 or 4) that are hidden under plastic wheel covers from the factory. Do get the centre caps, unless you like the rusty look. Our (3rd Gen) stock rim is 17” as well, but through winter it’s on 15” PIP rims with snow tires.
