Could this be the real reason why the head gasket fail?

Our last car, a civic, manual called for 3.2 litres. I was still in the mindset that dealership oil changes would garner warranty brownie points. One time after a change I checked; it was at least 10 mm over to mark, maybe more. I’m guessing they dumped in 4 one liter bottles.

anyways, after draining the overfill that time, under the car, holding the drain bolt just in the hole, trickling oil into a graduated canning jar (till my arms started shaking too much), I resolved to pack in the dealership oil changes.

Yes, Ilso believe they have +/- for amount of oil for engine.

The engine is different in the way it starts. The ICE start the engine at 200-300rpm in the good day with perfect battery.

The hybrid start the engine at 800-1200rpm. Instant torq immedidly from zero to 800-1200rpm tend to having affect of pulling oil in to the intake manifold. This happen overtime day by day everytime when the oil stay overfilled.

That is what I mean by "more is better" mentality in the human being in general. My oil change also came back overfilled.

Did you pump out the excess to the slightly over or slightly under top mark?

That likely doesn't happen. Oil blows by the rings, but the motor runs a lot faster
than the hybrid turns it over to get it to start.
Oil get sucked in from the pcv valve.

Too much oil, a lot more than 1-2mm on the dip stick, would cause excessive resistance
with the crankshaft having to rotate through oil for 360 degrees which would not be good
for the pistons or rods. Which "might" cause a little more oil getting sucked through the
pcv valve, but that would be the lease of your problems..

Slightly under, and they never burned oil, so it was the same level at every oil change

What does “The ICE start the engine” mean?

I think the OP means "a normal car uses a starter motor to spin the ICE at 200-300 RPM when it starts" vs "a Prius uses the hybrid drive system to spin the ICE at 1000 RPM when it starts".

This is chapter and verse from the video. But: I never overfill the sump, and every spring I'm draining my Oil Catch Cans (two, in series). The Car Care Nut is a bright guy, but nobody bats 1000.

A new video this morning, also claiming that old coolant with high acidity eating away at the head gasket coating causing a coolant leak into the cylinder. It is more V8 focused but also shows some V6 and I4 head gaskets with the same issue.

Years ago Suzuki had a plat under the hood that said "replace engine at 50,000 miles". Seriously!
That was in the 80's. 50,000 miles was a lot back then for the average driver. I used to put that many
miles on every year for several years! I'm at about 30,000 now.....

I like the Car Care Nut but he was late to the party on gen3 hg fails until he opened his own shop and finally saw the trend. At the dealer he worked for they were not seeing the high mile problems. Same goes for gen4 exhaust Heat Recirc leaks blowing engines.

Both my new 2007 and 2020 Prime were overfilled with oil about 1/8” from the factory, or the dealer is more accurate. I think it was from factory. Measured cold the next morning after purchase, and level. I was more careful filling but once or twice went over by 1/8” appx. It is also ok to leave it lower than full like he says in the video, in my opinion.

The advice to check a hot engine after five mins, never have seen any difference because the oil is not by any means all drained down. Maybe I’ll check it like that again, cold, then hot, and see if it’s bad memory.
