Hello, my Tom and I’m new to the forum. I live in Brussels Belgium.
I’m looking at a 2016 gen4. Anything to look out for other than general advice?
I get a one year warranty from the garage I’m buying from.

I’m not yet allowed to post links.

this is the car, any advice would be great.
i have obd 2 reader dongle and dr Prius app but I doubt they will let me check.
The battery should be under the Toyota 10year warranty.

Other than the heat exchanger issue above the catalictic converter, which I would not know how to check if everything is running smoothly and oil is not mayonnaise, I’m not sure what else to look at.

    thanks in advance!

    best,

    Tom Malschaert

    Welcome Tom,
Mark the coolant level on the coolant bottle & check every 2 weeks or before and after a long drive. If you catch the problem early, you won't damage anything. If you allow the problem to persist to the point the CEL is telling you something is wrong - your risking major repair costs.
Re: Dr Prius app & scanner; an honest shop wouldn't mind if you scan the car or they will use their own scanner to show you what you need to know. I understand why a shop wouldn't let customer's plug-in their cars - someone can really disable or damage the car if they know or don't know what they are doing - so have the shop mechanic available when you go look at the car. It will be his option to use your or his scan tool.

    Hope this helps...

Hello and thank you for the reply.

went to see I and walked off.
The coolant level on the big tank on the side of engine bay (looks like there are two, another smaller behind radiator?) was way below LOW. the guy gave some excuse.
Would not let me test drive.
Would not let me plug in my obd2 reader and dr Prius.
    Filthy car as well.

    Again thank you

FYI: the large coolant tank is for the engine, the smaller one on the radiator is the electronics coolant tank. The reason the smaller tank was low; the shop probably fixed an electronics issue on the car and had to drain that coolant tank. I'm just guessing...
