I recently got a new hybrid battery installed for my Toyota 2008 Prius. I changed it because Toyota had diagnosed P0AA6 being caused by a bad hybrid battery. I drove about 50 miles back home from the repair, and the car felt spectacular on the interstate! 3 hours after i took I picked it up from Walmart tire center for them to replace the TPMS sensors. It rained on my way home, I went to get the mail i reversed parked and BOOM P0AA6. I was in disbelief. I erased the code, and it came back twice. What could it be! thanks.

P0AA6 this code has subcodes that indicate problem areas.
Did they really replace your battery and just not erase this code from the error memory?
It will be interesting to know in which area this problem occurred

The problem was Toyota did not give me any sub codes at all. They only said your hybrid battery is bad and you need to replace it. I’ve seen other people here on Prius chat that had to deal with dealerships refusing to give the sub codes. I think they aren’t very fond of sharing them

Some trouble codes have what are called INF sub codes which give more information about the fault. Does the invoice from Toyota give the INF codes?

I would expect that the dealer keeps records of the actual computer scan (but I don't know that as fact). They should be able to document that their diagnosis was correct.

P0AA6 will set 2 INF codes. One is 526 (general isolation fault), the second (611, 612, 613, or 614) will point to the specific area causing the fault.

I just got my hybrid battery replaced because Toyota had said that it had gone bad. It was all good and perfect until it started raining and I got the old code I had before, p0aa6. I checked for water leaks. And the only thing I saw was wet mud next to the bumper vent , and a tiny trail of water dripping down the center from near the hatchback hook. I believe water has wet some component. My bumper has an opening at the end on the driver rear near the tail light. So I added seal tape to avoid any more water to enter. Does anyone know what procedure I can take to know what to dry? I’ll definitely need to get my bumper fixed. But for now how do I know what to dry? Thanks!

Update! I Believe Toyota may have misdiagnosed or wanted to take my money. There is a water leak from a crack in my rear driver side bumper by the tail light. It rained so I’m assuming water came into the components. I put some seal tape so water won’t come in anymore threw the broken bumper. I will also clean the mud that was created. Thanks to everyone that gave their input!

    Check what battery you got.
Can you post a photo of the high-voltage battery and its insides, a photo of the modules with alphanumeric designations?
We'll tell you what year the modules were.

I doubt the OP is going to take the car apart to check the module serial numbers.

There would have to be "LOTS" of water inside the cargo area (passenger compartment) for quite awhile before I'd expect an isolation fault to surface.

The "bumper" on a modern car is outside the passenger area. You can take it off and it shouldn't let water leak in. Take the cargo floor and black tray out. Is there water around the spare tire? How about under the 12V battery to the right side?

Given the amount spent on "the repair", personally I would go back and raise hell with the dealer - very publicly.
