I have a 2015 Prius Three, not III because only 2010 used uppercase roman numerals for model designation, and was wondering what was in the realm of the possible for buying OEM or Aftermarket parts to add the intelligent parking system (look up intelligent parking system on wikipedia)

I know I'd need to add the sonar system first, then whatever other comptuers/motors that turn the steering wheel/display the overlays on the camera, etc.

I found this part on Ebay which I'm guessing is only one part of the puzzle: (sorry I can't put links, but look up
PARKING ASSIST ADAPTIVE CRUZ 86792-47160 TOYOTA PRIUS 10-13 on Ebay).

If I can't install the entire system, it'd be nice to at least put the sonar system in. I've seen some universal kits, but OEM would be the best.

Has anyone done this? I'm assuming the car is already pre-wired, but would just need to computers/sensors to get it all up and running.

Thanks for reading! Hopefully someone can provide some advice :)

I doubt about it, to all.
It will not be as easy as you think, and considering you will be able to get all the hardware together, more likely that the vehicle will need a software upgrade to make it operational.

I would think the parking sensor system would be plug and play since there are already pre-marked spots on the bumpers where the sensors go.

Do any models of the Prius (before 2016) have the intelligent parking system? Or is that a European/Asian market thing?

You need to find a 2010 V-AT. It was dropped from the 2011. Some of us played around with it for a bit but it isn't very useful.

Toyota isn't going to absorb the cost for installing parts that aren't going to be used. You may be able to modify a bumper cover to accommodate the sensors but I'd be surprised if you'll be able to plug them in. If the sensors can be plugged into the ECU does the ECU have the programming to interpret the signal? The IPA used the rear camera & the nav screen.

My guess is that any V-AT that needs enough avionics to return functionality to the package will be a total loss.

Has anyone made an attempt. It seems that there should be a way to blend used parts or used cars in order to accomplish park assist. I am also wondering if anyone has information on self driving after market systems

The cars with parking guidance had a separate ECU, the parking assist ECU. There's an empty space for it in the ECU motel behind the glove box, I think.

The nav unit (at least the 7" screen one) has both a composite video input and a GVIF input. In cars without the parking assist, the backup camera plugs right in to the composite video input of the nav unit. With parking assist, the camera plugs in to the parking ECU's input, and the parking ECU adds its guide lines and such, and sends GVIF video over to the nav unit.

You might be the first one to really try to transplant the system. A lot of the wire harness wires are probably missing and would need to be transplanted also.

Oh heck just realized this is a resurrected thread.

@Joeski831 how long have you had the car, and what’s the miles on it?

I don't trust these automatic gadgets.
