blown head gasket P0301 P0302 P0300 ?

    Update: took the better part of the day to get to the gasket (those videos make it look so fast ;) - looks like I have some revised HG and not the original 2 tone one. My serial was a few thousands cars after they switched to new o-ring design late 2014 (thank god!) so at least oil burning shouldn't be an issue (hasn't). All the parts are super clean with 0 varnish! looks new. prev owner must have done proper 5k oil changes and not 10k.

    the head bolt are on SO TIGHT even with a very long 1/2" breaker bar it's takes some muscle. make sure to get the exact 'double hex' part as I wouldn't want to take a chance to round them off! and remove any oil in the head to make sure it's 100% seating (maybe not issue with incorrect 12pt as oil can ooze out ?)

    DO GET NEW ONE: I got the felpro ones (should be high quality) as they are less than half (over $100 at dealer!)

    Note: I forgot how hard it is to get that damm egr cooler (been 5y) ! the HG video does mentioned leaving one of the bolt out to make it much easier next cleanup (the back sideway one) which I surely will. By far the hardest part (and the main coolant line bolt access...

    My intake 1 had a ton of oil (OCC was the fullest I've seen as well) so time to replace again the pvc valve (maybe I got a knockoff on amazon. dealer this time).

    now time to put it back(y)

    You made it ok, so in the rear-view, but if you haven't seen it, this video is good. Doesn't make it any easier, but tips to avoid snapping off a bolt head:

    yeah I saw the video while doing it. made sure they would all wriggle back before untighting all the way. I think one maybe didn't (hard to tell as breaker bar has a lot of play) so I hammer shocked it just in case. and lube new bolts. I just finished the HG - it was the old one after all (silver+black) and can see where the coolant leak was. exaust on #1 was steam cleaned while the other 3 solid black smoke.

    hardest plart is cleaning the old gasket surface and old silicon (fingernail works, but I should have grabbed a plastic scraper.

    I showed my daughters that video explain what happens when you (never?) change the oil :)
    mine looks brand new. 0 vanish (unlike my Acura that was on regular oil half it's life.

    Took about 3 days but she's all back and working great! On to another 200k

    Only about $120 in parts including couple gasket but so much labor...

    Hint: buy felpro, and get their bolt "used like new" (really brand new sealed in bag return" from Amazon for 1/4 dealer prices

    and I'm not sure what rev I had since it's not all silver around either - looks like maybe the upper half (exaust side) got cleared but not the other. Anyway went with felPro since gasket master had good luck with them... plus toyota shouldn't get rewarded for defective product.
