Thank you, while I know not "counterfeit" the part sold at O Reilly's failed in under one year for me. They did refund all my money, but it was a huge hassle to replace for the second time in a year.

Thank you. So nice to know, it allowed me to find a brand new OEM in the box on e-bay. Go forth armed with the proper info

Hope you get a genuine Toyota part. I have heard that ebay can have counterfeits.

I always get parts from the local brick & mortar Toyota dealer. Zero problems that way.

Is this genuine ? My inverter pump -prius 2007 failed.
It looks aisin is the OEM. I am talking about the $92 AISIN inverter pump being sold on Amazon. Link won't post here.
Any help is appreciated. I need to get this fixed tomorrow

There are two levels of question to consider:

    1. Are the pumps Aisin sells to Toyota, and the pumps Aisin sells in other channels with the Toyota logo ground off, identical in all respects? (Do they decide which manufactured pumps go where by flipping coins, or some other way?)

    2. Is an Amazon listing of an Aisin pump, in a nicely printed box with what look like Aisin markings, really going to be an Aisin pump at all?

I can't gaze in my crystal ball and give you either answer, but those are the questions.

With regard to the second question—the one about counterfeiting—it's tricky. Amazon and eBay are heavily used by counterfeiters, and of course they print packages and logos that look like the brands they are counterfeiting. That's how it works.

I've purchased a so called genuine part from a third party vendor on Amazon, only to later discover that it was counterfeit when compared to a known genuine one from a Toyota dealer.

Now, the only third party vendors I trust are real Toyota dealers.

Store in Amazon says "AISIN". You would think no counterfeiter would be able to operate so openly. The seller on it is Amazon. Product has got great reviews. If it wasa Ebay I wouldn't trust it.

... and yet they can and do.
Another thing that they can and do fake. All in a day's work for the counterfeiter.

    Will take it to dealership

    Toyota part $150
Labor - it's 30 mins work. Hopefully dealer will not quote some crazy amount.

Also, taking risk to drive 25 highway miles. May take some break in between so inverter doesn't overheat.

Pretty sure when RockAuto sells a part by "Manufacturer X" they bought it directly from "Manufacturer X". They aren't a marketplace like Amazon or Ebay, where there are at least 10^5 vendors all operating in the same tent. A company like RockAuto is just that one company, and their reputation depends on them not selling counterfeits. They do sell some garbage parts, because some aftermarket parts manufacturers make garbage, but at least the purchaser will have picked the garbage part, rather than thinking they ordered a quality part but received a fake.

Did the inverter pump replacement with Toyota part at dealership

Code is gone. See turbulence in the coolant reservoir.

Did the dealer soak you for about $550ish?

Since this posting Aisin now sells their pumps directly. One direct source is Amazon as listed in their Aisin Store. A very quick visual queue is to look for the white circles imprinted on the black plastic as well as a lack of the unnecessary metal mounting bracket (reused from your car). To date, none of the knock offs do this so consider it a quick confirmation it is likely an Aisin manufactured part. For the pump used in the Second Gen Prius 2004-2009 look for Aisin model WQT-800. Amazon's Stock Inventory Number (ASIN) for the Aisin pump is B07G4J3BGX. I believe the UPC for the Aisin pump is 030915588058. An internet search for "030915588058" will offer other retailers of this Aisin pump. Read the reviews as well for more confirmation. Many say their cheep $25 pump lasted only a few months.

So in summary, buy a legitimate Toyota part (made by Aisin) or the Aisin part for confidence.

The Aisin WQT800 pump (with rubber mounts but no steel plate) has been available on Rock Auto for quite a long time. Currently ~$90.

I’m sorry for not following up on my previous post, turns out that the pump was bad, it did not work longer than a couple weeks, so I ended up buying the genuine pump from a dealer at a much higher price.
