Just got what appears to be a legit email from google telling me they are going to give me find my device for android. Did not do any checking on the actual offer, was more concerned it was all a Nigerian scam or something. But saw many legit news outlets had stories about how awful it is Any experience on this. I really am not one of those folks that live or die by my phone.
All Android phones have this feature... But sounds like you have a really old phone so it probably didn't have that feature and an update caused it. More importantly, it's time to update your phone with something that's newer and not so vulnerable to personal security issues. More to the point the newest version of http://www.google.com/android/find/ has some impressive features. My favorite one being the ability to tell your phone to keep ringing until you find it. Oh, you are so wrong. Yes, this find device is a new "feature" being pushed out to android users this past spring and summer. Lots of debate about it and most of the stuff I read.. Well do your due diligence. But, all seriousness aside, I think you three should consider -- "Find Me -- I escaped the care facility." Indeed, maybe a good percentage of forum participants (myself included) could benefit from such an app. Except Bob Wilson, of course. He always knows where it's at. Back to serious, there ARE personal locator devices that are fantastic if you regularly venture into the lands less traveled. I use Garmin, but they are pricey. Worth it if you ever need it. So far, I have not. But, I have been somewhat more cautious than I was in the days I used to hitchhike around Portland with my high school friends. Never had a problem, but was I ever stupid. I'm stuck in this goofy walled garden, but one advantage is the 'Find My' app. My two droids don't need this feature since I use them only for stuff that the Apples do not support (IOT, Digital HF apps, etc...) I also have 4 AirTags for other stuff. If I lose a 'droid I have another one. If I lose two I'll spend $40 on a burner.
