I started hating the guy when he did this to his shareholders (I was one at the time). How this never ended up as a shareholder lawsuit still confounds me.
Strong attitudes about Elon fall into two groups: Those who like his EVs but hate his weath. Those who like his wealth but hate his EVs. Bob Wilson ps. The old joke there are two kinds of people in the world: those who separate people into two groups, and; those who don't.
Helps if you have the right letter. The thread is about the one that came out a couple weeks ago. https://www.warren.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/final_-_warren_letter_to_tesla_board_re_musk_conflicts_of_interest.pdf
Sorry, I did not know about the August 8, 2024 letter when I cited July 17, 2023. I haven't read the latest but did read the 2023 letter. I owe you a new summary of the contents. Hopefully, it will be: An apology for 2023 and praise for Elon's accomplishments? It is now all sweetness and light? All new, original words? It may take a day or so but YOU DESERVE IT! Bob Wilson
i'll give liz credit, she has offered up more whinings about the steward health care ceo, who bankrupted the hospital chain, and is closing 5 massachusetts hospitals, but is still collecting his 250 million dollars. i wish she could actually do something
My mistake But the letter still does not offer more than "comments made by this person or another" GPUs have certainly been very hard to get and there is nothing there that shows Tesla had a datacenter sitting just waiting for GPUs vs they had ordered long in advance because of the known long wait times and suddenly got a shipment that couldn't be deployed right away. Certainly this situation could require investigation...but you need actual evidence to convict someone in a court, for example. There has also been known friction between Nvidia and Tesla beyond the known general chip shortage globally. (Didn't Tesla kick Nvidia chips out of the cars years ago? And didn't Tesla public criticize Nvidia when announcing Dojo, intended to replace NVidia chips for training?) Mike
They're statements make on the record, not hearsay. Musk stated Tesla could use all the GPUs it can get in an earnings call to stockholders as CEO. Presumably, statements in such a forum has more legal weight than on a social media site, where he stated Tesla didn't need the chips. There might be an investigation if the board doesn't take steps to Musk's actions in regards to Tesla focused on the best for Tesla. If there was, and one such that Nvidia would still deal with Tesla,, how could such friction be isolated to just Tesla, and not all of Musk's businesses? The issue isn't in Telsa not getting the CPUs, it is in Musk directing a shipment for Tesla to his unconnected companies.
Hate is a strong word. I don’t hate his wealth or his EVs. I think these days the word is used as an accusation. Like the person who doesn’t like Musk, or another person, or a product, is doing something wrong.
there are a lot of musk haters (they use the word hate at least) over on bolt.org maybe they don't understand the meaning of the term
It’s more saying other people are haters. Like criticizing a product and people label the person as a hater. So the reason for the product criticism lies with the person’s hate, not what they actually say. Or criticize Musk or other figure and you are just a hater. Dismisses all the facts you have and makes you the topic, not the facts.
agreed, and it works both ways. some hate the products, some the companies, some the ceo, and some the whole enchilada, for a variety of reasons that may or may not include personal experience or facts. in some cases, it's like a person who says they will never buy a german product because of hitler.
Or Bayer aspirin because they & a Consortium of others made the poisons for gassing / Mass genocide wwII

Currently, FSD uses a Samsung system with ARM chips. Tesla Hardware 4 - Full Details and Latest News - AutoPilot Review New hardware is coming out, but I didn't see anything on the specs. Nor anything about Nvidia being upset about being replaced with Samaung.
IIRC, this was long ago when Tesla first showed their own in house HW3 chip...Samsung was the FAB not designers -- big difference. See some of about Nvidia here but there were many more Tesla's New HW3 Self-Driving Computer — It's A Beast (CleanTechnica Deep Dive) - CleanTechnica Mike
