After getting this warning I discovered the hybrid battery cooling fan was loaded with dog hair on the front side and there was a rodent nest filling up the backside. After cleaning everything out I disconnected the 12v battery and reconnected to reset. The warning disappeared for several weeks but is now back on. My question is.... does this fan run all the time while the car is on or is it intermittent as required, because when I turn the car on I cannot hear the fan running. If I pull the fan out and connect to 12v. and it runs can I assume all is okay or are there other factors to consider? Thanks!
Fan is computer controlled. If the computer thinks the battery is hot, the fan should run, and it is a variable speed controller with several steps.
It is necessary to remove the parameters for the high-voltage battery using a scanner. The number with the error subcode will indicate possible problems.
I don't happen to know the official troubleshooting steps, but you can get a cheap, brief subscription to them here. It's saved me a couple of times, but I never needed to look up that subsystem.
I checked with an OBD2 scanner and it spit out error code PO AA6..... watched a youtube vid and it suggested first make certain I didn't have a loose terminal connection on the 12v battery. I DID and when I attended to that the error code went bye bye, and check hybrid system warning reset. I think I'm good to go.
