Louder when driving (sounds like muffler but shop says it’s ok)

    2010 Prius approximately 180k. Egr has been cleaned and some parts on it replaced. Maintenance done at proper times. Compression test is good, batteries pass testing.

    consumes about a half quart per 2000 miles.

    car is a little “throaty” when driving. Sounds as if a muffler. The muffler shop can’t find anything wrong but heard it when driving.

    Car does not knock or rattle when engine starts on morning.

    Any thoughts?

    Happens when slowing down, from speed…don’t hear it over the engine when speeding up.

    also, it does sound louder at the muffler…even though the shop says it’s working fine.

    I say that with no just you will have plenty of work coming your way pretty soon with this model No preventive anything is going to help it sorry but you can do all that if you want but just be ready to do a bunch of work or not It is generally coming

    Replace donut gaskets and bolt springs on both ends. Don’t use auto market parts, they don’t last or seal good enough.
