I definitely would have to get something, but right now I'm using 30+ $ unit from Amazon and it works well enough. The add-on integrated camera from Toyota is 400+$ range. The biggest plus is that the wires will be out of the way and I wont be taking up usb port.
For any owners with integrated dash, was that 400+ worth it?

i know toyota calls its $400+ dash cam as an 'integrated dashcam' but in my humble opinion, it's more deserving for a dash cam to be called 'integrated' when it also uses the existing back up camera to record what's behind you. the toyota dash cam just give you the illusion that it's an 'integrated' dash cam with its integrated look. i would consider the fitcamx with its higher resolution.

First off, there are at least two other threads on this topic that go into detail, search for them.

Short version: Absolutely do not pay $400+ for the Toyota dashcam. You can buy it and the wiring harness for about $315* and install it yourself. It is a pretty clean install, but the only integration is the power. There are much better cameras for around the same price that also include a rear camera. The interface is crap, so your best bet is to pull the card and stick it into a laptop if you need to download multiple files.

I have it and am perfectly ok with it, but I am a lowest-denominator user. It's just there in case I happen to get hit or have an accident happen in front of me. Other than initial testing, I have not viewed any captured video in the nine-ish months since I installed it. I wanted something that could be installed cleanly, could be forgotten about after that, and would likely hold up very well to temps and UV. If you need more than that, I would look elsewhere.

I've been following the aftermarket options for these devices for a while now... As always, Tesla doesn't have any after market options because their design is superior to what others can make...

And separate from expensive systems for newer cars, the systems for older cars that use to be more than $300 are currently being disrupted by wolfbox, which is spending heavily on Social media ads and offering something similar for only $70: WOLFBOX G840S 12”Mirror Dash Cam 4K Rear View Mirror Dash Camera Front and Rear 710436668674 | eBay

Anyone know if the FITCAMX model is supported with the digital rear view mirror? I'm finding most harnesses / integrated cams have an issue with that feature being present. FITCAMX's website is silent on compatibility, but their Amazon listing notably lists only LE and XLE as compatible, not the LTD. Also, does it use a battery or capacitor, because I've found battery based models only last about a year in the heat here.

Has anyone found any other comparable options? I have a camera from my previous car, but I'm just not keen on trying to wire the thing back to the center console without making it look like crap.

Otherwise, I may just bite the bullet and see if I can get the OEM one.

I'm hoping someone has had better luck than me, but mine does not sit completely flush. It is likely due to the extra electronics under there for XSE taking up more space. It doesn't really rattle anymore unless I'm driving on really bumpy road, but it does have a bit of wobble when my sunshade gets put up and pushes past it.

I bought it and the small part didn't fit correctly due to the digital mirror having a bigger gyro thingy, I emailed them and they sent me a piece with a bigger gap for the digital mirror, currently waiting for that part to see if it fits. Theiri customer service has been really good so far

Did you end up having any luck with this piece with the bigger gap?
