I have searched the Forum and have not been able to find any links for a shop manual addressing my Gen 3 Prius V. I am a new owner and have 125,000 miles. I know it's time to do a bunch of stuff, especially since I don't know what has been done prior to my owning this car. Runs like a top and I'd like to keep it that way! Is there a place that I can purchase a book, or a site where I could download the manual? Much thanks!

I haven't seen a Prius v Repair Manual. Here's some info, may help you create one, with a Techstream short-term subscription, albeit with broken links:

This is pretty pathetic; I know. All the manufacturers seem to be adopting the pay-as-you-go (aka pay-through-the-nose) "subscription model". I used to buy (paper tome) Honda Shop Manuals, for every Honda we had, around $100 CDN per. Paid for themselves the first time you set up the valve clearances.

Hello Chapman F. Thanks for the information on where to find technical data on my 2012 Prius V. I bought a 1 year subscription to Alldatadiy and have been perusing. The information is well written and detailed. Missing is some of the information that is contained here in the forum, such as intervals for replacement of the water pump, or any suggestion of replacing the fluid in the transmission. If you go looking for the procedure, it's there, what's missing is the recommendation to do it. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to send me the information. Pete

In the States. When we bought in 2010 there was no brake fluid change interval, however: Toyota Canada now recommends brake fluid change every 3 years or 48K kms (30K miles), whichever comes first.

Here is what they give you for free relative to maintenance intervals. The maintenance light comes on every 5k miles. Toyota says change oil every 10k miles; change every 5k instead. The car has a litany of expensive problems so be ready.

Toyota gives you a checklist of driving conditions, says change oil every 10k miles if you check NO on every box, otherwise change every 5k if your driving conditions check any of the boxes. So they're not even saying 10k across the board. You're on the honor system for what your driving conditions are.

For the US 3rd gen schedule, I cobbled this spreadsheet summary. I think it would be applicable to the Prius v as well, or at least very close:

Your spreadsheet is encouraging 10,000 oil changes which, coming from you, validates the concept. Kind of like Toyota giving the first two free as long as they are 10k miles.
