I have a Toyota Prius c 2012 that randomly started to honk really loud when I unlock the car. I don’t know what the issue is and can’t find a solution to the problem. I don’t really know much about cars, but any information would be greatly appreciated.
I can’t seem to find it in the manual. I did try some of the stuff that I thought was related to the problem but none of it seems to work.
I don’t think so. Usually this issue tends to disappear after a couple of weeks maybe months, but it comes back randomly and I don’t know how to fix it.
Is it the cars horn that's beeping when you unlock and lock? There are bout 100 youtubes about how to use the key fob to shut of the cars normal lock unlock beeping. I didn't see any about the cars horn beeping when locking and unlocking using the key fob though.
It’s more of like the siren horn that beeps when I unlock the car or lock the car with or without the key fob. It’s really loud compared to the honk in my car. Also I think I might have an after market alarm so I’m going to do more research on that.
It happens to mine too which doesn't have an aftermarket. Mine also does this and has doesn't have an after market alarm. It is obnoxious! Sometime...SOMETIMES if I approach the handle slowly and deliberately, like, ironically, a thief, it does the normal quiet 'unlock beep'. But 90% of the time I'm jarred, and feel bad for everyone around me. If people are nearby, I try to warm them which usually ends up with weird looks, followed by a jump and sneer lol. Sure I/we could use the fob button, but one of the biggest appeals of this (new-to-me) car is not having to juggle keys.
