    Hello All,

I bought a used Prius V a few years back that had a clear protective film in several places. I dont know who installed it. This had been a lease so I am assuming it was applied by Toyota or the Dealer. Over the years the piece on the hood has deteriorated forming cracks and looks bad. Anyone else have a similar experience? any advice on how to remove it? IMG_0092.jpeg

The vendors who install ppf film are best at removing it. Removing it incorrectly is almost guaranteed to pull up some paint.

    installation instructions are here

removal isn't much different than the reverse of the installation

spray - grab a corner an pull slowly - rinse and repeat

I removed the two little bits that get put on at the factory (on our gen 3 hatchbacK), ant the rear door edges. I (gently) played a heat gun on it, picked at an edge to get started, took my time, keep it warm and slowly pull. Finished up with a little was; you'd never know it was there. Hood's a much bigger area though. You might end up with some difference in colour too, once it's off.

spraying the water solution is the easiest and safest way IMO. Just don't get the two different water solutions mixed up. One sets the film in place, Don't use that one when removing film.
The other keeps the film from sticking until it's aligned and air bubbles removed while installing. use that one and keep spraying it and getting it under as much as it will go. Once you get the film started you'll see how the water solution works at keeping the film from sticking.
Others have their own thoughts and warnings to share.

What sized sheet's on the hood?
There are at least 3 sizes I've heard of and none of them even the biggest one goes up onto the flat part of the hood by the windshield/
