I am trying to remove one of the key find someone stole it and they already stole stuff out of my car. I can connect to the main ECU the hybrid control module and two others so 4 out of 14 So I have the wrong cable ? Reads mini-vci J2534 standard oboII communications interface Do I have to buy a different cord or is there something else afoot? terramir
Yes there are many problems with many of the VCI cables apparently the j standard is apparently messed with by just any company that wants to play with it change wire pin outs all that stuff I don't know It's crazy so there's a file here in the forums that list all of the cables and units that play nicely that people have reported so far.
what OS versions are you guys using? Pay close attention to what the seller advertises as compatible OS(s) for the product you purchased. Times are a changin and so are OSs and how they handle programs. Especially programs where windows 11 and earlier windows anti virus programs flag an install for being a possible malware install. Instructions that I've seen always say to shut off anti virus programs before installing. It's risky for sure, I wouldn't want to do it, but hey I have other issues you guys might not as worried about it in your situations.
I don't even run antivirus programs on my computer except what comes in windows by default I don't even know what it's called anymore Windows defender something whatever it is I don't even really partake in the new computer business My daughter behind me in her room as the latest and greatest stand-up video card and blah blah blah because all she does with her computer is play games of medieval times and nonsense If I ask her to look up something oh God it's like pulling teeth so her computer is used for one thing anime and going on quest too funny My old crappy computer sitting here in the living room is used for real things like looking up real data and information to accomplish tasks and things you know or as her thing is used for pretty much the nothing you know like in the never-ending story exactly. Now with a lot of these cheaper newer possibly capable scanners if you're careful about what you're buying and try and stay away from the homeowner models you can get what you need relatively inexpensively and get most tasks done without issue If you're going to work on a bunch of cars and try to do the same thing then you're going to get lassoed into a 1900 plus setup with lots of plugs and the plastic case and all the nonsense because you're a shop essentially.
