That's cool. I've never heard of LKQ, but there is one here in Tampa. My thinking is to do it your way it would take me at least half a day to get a used part that I have no idea the condition of. If I replace the digitizer myself I know I'm getting a new part that will last. I looked up a couple of youtube videos on how to do the repair and it looks doable to me. The videos are 12-20 minutes long which means it will probably take me 45 mins - an hour to complete the job. This seems like the simplest solution to me that doesn't' require me having to mail anything and wait days for it to return.

I'm also going to add one of those shade covers for the screen so this hopefully doesn't happen again

EDIT: NEVERMIND, I think this won't work because I need to replace the entire LCD and not just the digitizer. LCD is a $200+ part so I might as well replace the entire MFD unit

No this won't take a half a day because if the junkyard or wherever you're going to find the vents already gone and things like that so you're going to undo two 10 mm screws pull the MFD towards you remove a couple of plugs and off you go that's it If while everything's still plugged into the car if you were one of those people like me who carry your little portable 12 volt supply with you you can just plug that up to the battery terminals and see if you can make things come on generally speaking a lot of these cars these things aren't bad they've already been dealt with and replaced and now they're here in the junkyard because they got broadsided hitting the rear end the batteries died and they don't know how to deal with that properly and so on usually not always I'm just saying usually that's how I get them anyway and I'm looking at these things seemingly all the time I have junk yards and tow lots that call me as soon as they get a call saying they need to go pick up a Prius before they even go to the car they call me quite a few of them. It might take you a few minutes to put it back in your car without breaking the air conditioning vents and so on and so forth but getting it out is going to be no problem at the junkyard usually the vents are broken you just tap them with the end of a screwdriver and they fall away undo two 10 mm bolts withdraw the MFD and you're gone

you can only judge project lithium by reading the many threads here.
i'm not smart enough to understand the scientific threads, and there is too much bickering back and forth between the paid promoters and the doubters.
i try to look at the comments from users, but i'm not invested enough to form an opinion.
if i were, i'd probably just look for a good price on an oem since they are a known quantity, but i'm fairly conservative when it comes to new tech.

Wow I've seen people buy that Toshiba screen off eBay not used for like $79 that's been some time ago I'm sure the pandemic and everything killed all the prices so they would be about double today so that reflects here pretty cool like I say I have enough around me to just grab them out of cars most places the way I take them I don't take all the plastic so they're happy to see me carrying that junk away so there's always that I can't think of one that I've carried out like that that's been bad so far I've done five or six seven of them and one or two of the seven buttons the same way I just sent one of the seven buttons to the country of Greece and the guys happy to get it a bunch of crap but yeah you can buy those parts and slap them on there no problem and then when the main board goes out and the thing and it's just a big dark nothing you'll be back at it again but I guess the same can be said for a junkyard one but you might be getting those for near nothing you know you're dealing with the car here the days of making good money off of these cars parts are kind of behind us
