If you drive a common car, once it's old enough they start showing up in the self-serve junkyards.

I felt like the gen3 Prius is still a rarity at the local yards but last time I was at Pick-n-Pull, looking for a part for my Volvo, I came across a string of four Gen 3s. Interestingly, three had been set out on the same date, with the fourth being earlier that month.

And I looked through them and found what something good on the fourth car - the sliding armrest cupholder insert (58925-47010) that has a MSRP of around $65!

I would guess this might be a good place to get an inverter or brake booster setup, at least from one of the wrecked cars. They have the cats and batteries removed, of course.

I'm not familiar with that idiom... a Google search revealed nothing... well, nothing pleasant. Do you mean rare, like a blue-eyed elephant?

The 3rd gen was a popular car and you see quite a few of them around here.

Geez, the "benefits" of going electronic.

    Scratch that, just tried:

Even if you're without your fob, one push of the start button and it'll display odo. That's assuming it's not completely disabled. Might require a jump pack.

In the southeast they're all over the places tow lots and junk yards not really a problem to find but the sliding cup holder is one of the things that gets broken pretty quick and/or the armrest so you're stuck with new old stock suppliers and buyers or the rarity of an eBay find or something and that's it very much like some other models of vehicles that have come and gone.

At Pick-n-pull, none of the cars have batteries and you are not allowed to bring in batteries or jump packs.

There are usually one or two Prius at each of the pick and pull yards around here. The quality of interior parts is determined by the previous owner NOT just the miles on the car. I assume if front end is smashed in from high speed accident or a rollover event that the motor/trans were working. Rear end crash could be from being disabled parked on side of road. Good Leather Power seats are rare.

I found headrests of Toyota Avalon or Highlander that fix the extreme forward head tilt of the Prius headrest and can be right color too.
