I've got a 2005 Prius which has been replaced, and is sitting on the driveway. Batteries are dead by now. I'd like to sell for parts, and found a scrapyard of sorts in the Atlanta area which would give $350 to take it away. That's super low, but they'd be taking it away, so I'm considering it. It doesn't have to be sold for parts; it needs an ABS module and the hybrid battery, then it should be up and running again. Unfortunately those are two of the more expensive fixes (at least when I looked into the dealer charge for fixing). But other than that, it was a great little car and I loved it for many years. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Newspaper type thing or digital versions of craigslist in the Atlanta area I used to live on Glenridge We had a newsletter in the neighborhood that was a long time ago over there near GM they are gobs of people who would pay more money for it probably at least 800 or a thousand more than likely unless it's completely trashed.
Advertise it here. Advertise it on Craigslist and FaceBook marketplace Be honest Have a male meet people Trust no-one Use a male pseudonym Do not let anyone hook any device to the vehicle to " test" anything Take cash only Complete the transaction at the DMV or AAA Verify the ID of anyone looking at the car and keep a copy of the buyer's ID Decide in advance the minimum you will accept and ask double that. For someone this is a great deal and worthwhile. Don't be blaze about this, you are entering the jungle when you do this. Make a youTube short video of everyone who looks at the car. Again, do NOT trust anyone.
Parting out cars is really hard work and the cost of getting rid of what you don't sell usually eliminates the money made from what you do sell... I'd try to sell it online for $400 to $500 and if that doesn't work sell it to wrecker for $350 after you've sold a few things off it...
No just act like yourself and the human being that you are That's it If somebody wants to plug in a scanner to see if there's codes Just look at the scanner and make sure it's not some home built piece of crap that somebody whipped up in their garage It has a name brand on it like a u t e l or snap-on and nothing's going to happen it'll show codes or it won't to not let somebody do this or prove that there are no codes it's dishonest or not to do it is dishonest. I'm very blase about this stuff You don't want it don't take it I don't really care there are people that will fly out of the woodwork just for the parts value on the car which is about $1,000 or so generally speaking unless it's trashed so the $500 deal is out the window not happening more like a thousand plus but then again see where I'm sitting I can use the part scrap the car when I'm done and have all that done in a few days if I need to If you're sitting in an HOA neighborhood you don't have this luxury and that's what most people are banking on You've got to move the car you've got to do it in a hurry you're living in the hoity toity part of Atlanta where they don't play this crap etc That's how I buy some of these cars from people that have to move them because they can't have them sitting in their fancy pants neighborhood the neighbors won't put up with it then they have to pay to tow it and move it to put it somewhere while they wait to try to sail it for parts or what have you most people they're not having it.
You will probably actually get the money quicker than a guy will to be honest about it in this day and age so I would say pretty much the opposite is true You as a woman can play columbo act stupid dumb and bring the ignorance out in the men who are coming Just the role reversal. Men do stupid things when they're in front of women for whatever reason I don't care.
No matter what you do get a signed Bill of Sale you prepare in advance along with a picture of their drivers license and insurance card. Be sure the bill of sale has “as is” and requires title transfer and insurance quickly. Some states have an online site where you notify the state of the sale and buyer.
