First off, I want to thank everyone on this forum for being so helpful. I've just started my DIY journey with my Prius C and this community has been such a huge help. After reading up on this forum and watching numerous YouTube videos, I finally decided to try changing out my coolant fluid. Everything was going smooth until I tried reattaching this stop ring onto the drain cock plug. It popped off and went flying...for the life of me I can't locate it. Does anyone here know the actual name and or part number for this? I'm assuming it's not safe to refill the coolant and drive without the stop ring. Thanks in advance!
Yeah it is not safe to drive it like that. I am trying to find if the ring has a part number but so far nothing.
Can you find the part you're looking for in this diagram? RADIATOR & COMPONENTS. in case the link fails now or in the future 2012 Prius C
Good luck, dont think you will find this to buy separately . You may be able to make your own with a 1mm steel wire and wrap it around a round object.
Thanks for the help everyone. Unfortunately, I had my car towed to the dealership and they sorted things out for a hefty price. The ring isn't sold separately as Sonic_TH here pointed out. It comes with "Engine Coolant Thermostat Kit" (Part No 1603121010). My local dealerships all didn't have it in stock and the regional parts warehouse only had 1 in stock for the entire province of Ontario. Luckily the stock level was accurate and the part was delivered within a day. The alternative was having it backordered from California with a possible wait of several weeks... Hard lesson learned. Appreciate the feedback from the community.
