Finally had it with the 19's and POS Toyo's. Lack of handling while flogging up Berthoud Pass and road noise, lack of choices or long wait time if one blows.... Especially after swapping back from my winter set up. Just too much...Lol Very happy with these 17's from Enkei(Japan) with Conti DWS06- 225/55/17 Tires fit perfectly in wheel well. Rides better, a lot less noise.
Very good point , Prius should come standard with decent 17 inch wheels on each version . 19 inch should be an option for those that want them
Thanks for this. Contemplating something like this a bit later on. Figger I will live with the 19s until I get a bit more use out of them first. Do let us know if mileage measurably improves. Will
And looks much better than the Everydaydriver experiment. Avoiding the 19" wheels altogether is my primary reason for having my sights on an LE.
I agree they could’ve put better tires on a 40+ K car! Michelin at the very least! I just can’t part with my 19 inch wheels, what were you running for air pressure? I find mine handles pretty well in extended curvy sections of road, better than any others I I’ve owned Gen2-Gen3 ! I am very satisfied with the all-wheel-drive and the limited trim,
I'm pretty sure I'll take a small hit on MPG but who knows. 2 words for me- worth it. Already rides better. The Toyos were garbage tires
I drive in the CO mtns taking Berthoud Pass frequently. Handling was sub-par but I'm coming from a GTI. I ran the suggested air pressure. If you look at the Toyo tread pattern, it's not designed for ultimate handling, IMO.
In Canada they come with bridgestone ecopias on the SE prime, which is 17 inch from the factory. Sure they have some road noise, being Low rolling resistance tires, but from all I've gathered, they are better than Toyo tires. I have the michelin winter tires, and they weren't much noisier or quieter, really. Hopefully by the time the tread is worn there will be Michelin all seasons available, since they tend to be a bit quieter than bridgestone in general from my experience on my other car. I mean if the winter michelins are similar in noise to bridgestone all seasons, I'm sure the michelin all seasons would also be quieter.
I like the Gen 5 OEM aero wheel covers better than aftermarket wheels. Could they go on aftermarket wheels? These particular aftermarket wheels resemble the Gen 4 OEM wheels with the wheel covers removed.
