Does anyone know how to turn-off the horn alert part of the urgent safety warnings? I know how to mute it at the car wash. It has activated 3 times in parking lots and only 1 of them was a true urgent situation. The other times it was simply someone walking too close and they appeared angry as they thought I was honking at them. I have searched the manual and the internet.

Wait, there's a horn alert? Never experienced that before.

Yeah. The cross-traffic alert system and the reverse backup system will blow the horn in the cabin when something gets super close to hitting the car.

Okay. But is it actually the car horn that goes off or just a loud warning thru the speakers?

I think its just a horn-like sound that plays through the speakers. The external horn is for cars/people around the car.

It's just inside the car, but it can be loud so in a quiet parking lot, at night, etc, I'm sure someone walking in front of the car would hear it through the glass.

If they don't know that the alert is a horn sound, and its only for you, they might somehow think you're honking at them? Though, tiny as the prius horn may be, it would still be much louder if it was intended to be for the pedestrian.

I'd simply chalk this up to the person walking by the car not knowing and also taking things a bit too seriously without any real critical thinking skills being applied.

I mean, if I heard a muffled car sound from inside a car when walking right next to the front of a car, I wouldn't think "they're honking at me" since I know how loud horns actually are.

I don't usually do an automated wash, but the ones I have used are ones where I park the car, and its touchless. So I park the car and turn it off, and let the touchless stuff move around my car.

Then when its done I drive out slowly and if it beeps and I don't want it to, I hit the little mute button on the screen for the sensor display.

When the screen pops up showing the sensors that are going off, there is a mute function at the bottom you can touch on the screen to silence the alarms,

Can't you also adjust the volume in the options menu?
