This community has been VERY helpful over the past 2 years, whenever I’ve had issues with my Prius - which thankfully, haven’t been too often or significant. Nonetheless… I enjoy keeping y’all updated on my journey. In September of 2020 I required a specialized mini crane to be lifted in & out of bed due to a major stroke, and I couldn’t walk anymore or use my entire right side. After going through rigorous physical rehabilitation, I decided to make massive life changes. With adventure and living each day to the fullest top of mind, I moved into my Gen 2 in April of 2022, and haven’t looked back since. Everything isn’t magically perfect now, there are still great challenges I face each day. But I am fully independent again, and most importantly, ALIVE. Making a car into a home isn’t for everybody, though I know that there are many fellow nomads (even aspiring) out there. If this kind of kooky stuff floats your boat, you can follow my adventures here: http://www.youtube.com/@carcampingdude6406 Your health is your wealth. Invest in it wisely, and safeguard it to ensure many, many years of future returns
Grateful for you! Just subscribed to your channel and look forward to more videos... Hope you take us on some travels to interesting places and you build enough of a following to afford a larger camper!
Interestingly, once you get used to living in a car, you realize that one doesn't need much to survive...especially all of the wasteful gadgets & extravagances that so many people enslave themselves over. I have a refrigerator, a comfortable bed, dependable transportation, cheap heat & a/c, I power all of my electronic devices, and a shower can be had at a gym or truck stop any time I'd like. Plus... I have FREE RENT! What more does a person need? So, while a truck camper would be nice, I'm more than content living in a car Thanks for your help on here, and for subbing
I've gotten that before lol. However, there's a specific reason that I chose that avatar. Prior to my stroke I was an avid metal detectorist. Or as I sometimes joke, a hopelessly addicted treasure hunter. Of course, I can't enjoy that anymore as my walking isn't the best, but I had a good run and made great friends & memories over the years. Also found a bunch of amazing history in the ground. So, that avatar is of the late, great Walter Huston, in one of the finest movies ever made, Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Appreciate your subbing, as well as your help on here
I've seen one folk get a Planet Fitness sub since it works in every single one around the country+ it's cheap+ those are everywhere. Cheapest shower option out there, esp if you're on the move
Personally, creeks --- to avoid the creeps -- have worked for me....of course; January in Ely Minnesota, not so much. kris
Cold water down to bout 40 F does wonders for those that can handle it. Polar Bear club members are in a class of their own, imo. I especially love cerulean sea water, but only ever see in pictures of far away places I'll probably never get to sea / see. These days I'll take almost any sea water as long as I don't see too many pipes around. I'm not sure I could handle truck stops and Athletic Clubs just to clean up from doing what peeps that live in there cars do most days. Driving I guess. Keep on Truckin
Sorry. "Re-Thunk" and deleted the pix I posted. Only the second time I have done that here in, gosh, has it been SIXTEEN YEARS! Or is it 15. I PRACTICALLY GREW UP HERE lol. Kris
Tell me about it ! Posting public pics is an art all unto itself. For me the less personal they are the better. I wasn't always that way. I did have a web page back in the 90's where i spilled goobs of personal stuff. But that was than and this is now. A lot of times I wonder just how many of the people pics associated. with a profile are actually of the real person behind their posts or just some random photo from who knows where. hehe.... ps: Does anyone remember how a lot of pictures would load from the top down over a slower than 56k modem connection to the net? hummin - those were the days my friend ....
Well, I’d put sex on the list of life essentials. That said, I support what you’re doing and think it’s awesome. I’ve done for this for months on end multiple times without a lease over the last couple of years, hitting around 42 states and multiple territories in Canada. 100% agree that it teaches a person the true needs for existing relatively comfortably. I never felt more alive than the time traveling like this (technically it is overlanding). It is definitely more comfortable and glamp-like than extended motorcycle trips I’ve done that require hiding the bike and a tent in wooded brush every night vs. pulling into a parking lot and going to sleep. It eliminates the need to stash the bike and gear in the woods and hope nobody finds it during the day, but in cities people still smash Prius windows - how do you avoid smash n grabs during the day? Stay healthy and keep inspiring others with your stories. This community will help you for sure.
