Hello, We recently had the brake booster pump go out on our 2010 Prius. Took it to the dealer and they wanted over 3k to replace both the pump and the master cylinder. I did a bunch of research, and learned there was a recall, which we didn't qualify for at 217,000 miles, and also couldn't find any info saying that you had to replace both parts when the pump goes bad. My friend's shop replaced just the brake booster pump, and could not get the learn proceedure to clear the warning lights. The toyota dealer tried and couldn't clear them, so it went back to my friend's shop and they replaced the master cylinder, and still couldn't get the codes cleared with their fancy Snapon scanner equipment. Can anyone enlighten me on what's going on?

In the Toyota bleeding procedure there are some things that may have to be done like linear valve offset or something along those lines and if your snap-on scanner doesn't tell you that you have to do that and it fails you just because it can't get through the bleed procedure but you don't know why then I guess that might cause a problem like this but I'm not sure It seems like you've replaced the two $700 more pieces which are the two pieces generally that need to be replaced they're about the same price as each other they just do different functions

Were the replacement parts new OEM or used parts?
