First I must warn this is disgusting and embarrassing My mom who has IBS wanted to borrow my car. When I got it back she apologized and said she couldn’t hold it in. She ended up exploding in her pants. Some of it soaked through her pants and went into the leather seats.
Any suggestions? Do I need to get a new seat? How do I get to the area where the damage soaked into? Without getting to that area and getting it out it won’t ever smell good.

    thanks

I don't think that's truly the case My carpet cleaning buddy has this stuff that will eat urine I think it's called urine X and there's similar stuff made for non pee or excrement if you will You would clean the area normally hopefully you have a shop vac so that you can apply the stuff to the seat allow it to soak into the perforations of the leather f leather If not it would soak into the cloth because it's cloth and then it would start to break up the excrement that leaked through the material of the seat by using microbes that are in the chemical like urinex that eats up the urine this does the same for the excrement and once that starts to work then you can use your Shop-Vac literally to wet it and try to withdraw the excrement that went through the material back through the material into the Shop-Vac hose and into the shop vac and then there's a spray that you would spray on after that and leave that on for 24 hours or something like that and that should pretty much get it taken care of obviously the windows would probably be cracked or open maybe sitting in the garage or the carport that sort of thing I wouldn't think it would last very long I've seen people get animal excrement and traces of that sort of thing out of a vehicle very quickly like the next day you practically couldn't tell it other than what was on the bottom of your boots

I have a lot of friends that ride horses and take their Prius to the stables all weekend.

    Murphy's oil soap.

Also, a 30 minute ozone generator treatment for the whole interior with A/C on and set to recirculation. I use it about once a year on all my vehicles.

    Good luck!

Yep this should work. When my daughter bought her used Sienna, it had a horrible stench and a good round of ozone treatment (after a deep cleaning) completely removed it.

And IBS sucks, I know folks who suffer with it. :-(

There are a lot of enzyme products available these days specifically to biodegrade stuff like that. The only caution is that many of them recommend to NOT use a detergent cleaner until AFTER using the product - ie. just do the initial clean with water.

This is because there is so much variation in cleaning chemicals, that many of them can actually end up encapsulating/protecting the proteins, etc., in question and reduce or even prevent the enzymes from being able to do its job, so it becomes a three step process.

Basic clean with water, soak in enzyme cleaner, clean with good cleaner.

The other thing about enzyme cleaners is that THEY ARE ONLY EFFECTIVE AS LONG AS THERE IS MOISTURE. So in order to be effective, you can't just spray it on and let it dry - it may not have enough time to do its job. So much so that many times it's recommended to cover the are with something like plastic sheeting to slow the dry time (or just make sure it doesn't dry out by adding more over time). That being said, I doubt if the "fallout" could have gone very deep as most was likely caught by her clothes.

But that may end up damaging something like leather.

But they do work very well at getting deep down into stuff like that if applied correctly.

Any competent detailer should either have the means to clean and deodorize the seat OR know who can. Leather is cleanable.

Sorry. For a 2010? Replacement seats are available everywhere. I'd have that seat out and a 5 gallon bucket in its place if needed. Not gonna spend the rest of my life wondering what's going to happen on a hot day or if some rain gets in the car by accident, etc. Nope nope nope.....

Hmm I would be on the camp of finding a nice seat from a pick a part because that is a tough one, I am sure you could wet vac it a whole bunch of times with all the chemicals ya got but I can't imagine it would get everything that soaked underneath..and ya imagine on a hot sweltering day where your Prius is left out in the sun... Maybe if you have the ability to completely separate the seat fabric and properly wash it from the inside out then it would be properly done but that is a ton of work, they are usually produced so tight with a bunch of metal clips.

Doesn't matter if the NCC-1701 teleported the poop out of it. That seat is getting replaced if it was my car.

Have you ever pulled up household carpet that's been in place for 10+ years? You'll wonder for the rest of your life how that much crap got under the padding and bonded to the underlayment.
