My wife's 2022 prime was just totaled in what can best be described in an "unintended acceleration." She was backing out of a driveway, stopped the car to put in forward and it accelerated backwards. Spun around twice then hit a tree. During this event she tried to put the care in neutral (she didn't hit any pedals for fear that she would hit the wrong pedal) but the car kept going. This suggests the accelerator was stuck. (And like any intelligent person, she's willing to accept responsibility if it was in fact her fault, but she's never had anything like this happen. We'd like the chance to show that it was the car.) Insurance totaled it but now we want to attempt to prove that she was not at fault. How does one go about getting the event data out of the car. Google appears to be no help. We are in MA (the only services I've found for this were in the south east US). I've spoken with the dealer (no help), body shop (no help). Trying to get someone at the insurance company now. Thanks in advance for any insight or assistance.
Do 4gen Prius transfer telematic data to Toyota? I doubt. Mine doesn't even have a cell connection. Hopefully, she wasn't driving like this (found on Reddit last night)
i would start with my insurance company. if no luck, the police, and then a lawyer. be sure to file a report with the nhtsa
