I've googled and searched and cannot find pictures of them. Anyone care to share pics and location of them? possible part number as well?
A single rear foglight is fitted to the centre of the bumper in European and some Japanese models. Not fitted in the USA. You can see it in this video: Don't have a part number, but I do recall from the repair manual that apparently it's secured with double-sided tape inside the bumper. Not sure what other support it has - I imagine it's got some surrounding support.
Oooh. I want. But almost certainly too hard to make it work(for my taste). Don't want to order a Japan/Europe bumper(and pay the insane shipping costs), and don't want to cut a hole in my existing bumper. But I'm now envious over Europeans for two reasons: rear fog light and dual zone climate controls. BTW, part number is 81480-47030 for the light. Not orderable from US Toyota dealers. ¥6,000(~$40USD) plus shipping if you import it from Japan. (Plus you'd need to cut a hole in your bumper and figure out how to wire it in.) Wiring: Not possible to do completely stock on a US car. The light is controlled by a relay built into the Power Distribution Box Assembly in the dash. That relay almost certainly isn't present in the US version of the PDBA. A person could certainly get it power from a different source(like a tail light), but it might not behave like the fog light on the Japanese or European Priuses. I also don't know if it's technically legal in the US. For all I know there might be a DOT rule saying the only clear lights allowed on the rear of a car are reverse lights and license plate illumination. Attachment is only through the adhesive. Although it is also indicated to use a primer to increase the bonding.
Thank you! This is the first vehicle I've driven with no rear fog light and was just curious if this was a possible retrofit, even if not OEM. Great info!
It's a red light, of similar intensity to the brake lights, as is legally required here. Not that that answers the question...
Non flashing. And a bit too obviously 3 red LEDs rather than being a uniform light source for my taste, but could have been a deliberate styling decision.
