I was driving to the nearby Home Depot when I stumbled upon a lot used by Stevens Creek Toyota in San Jose to hold inventory. I was surprised to see that they had 35 Priuses at this lot (plus probably a few more at the dealership). [attachmentid=6085][attachmentid=6086][attachmentid=6087]
Boy, that's nutty compared to a year ago. I guess the HOV sticker situation and the halving the of tax credit has made them less attractive. Bay Area car buyers must've gotten amnesia about gas prices too (but it's not that they're low right now either at >$2.50 gallon in most places).
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(cwerdna @ Dec 31 2006, 10:01 PM) </div> This is really sad. In Minnesota you have to wait in queue. I waited 51 weeks and just got mine in October. I did not discover this chat forum until after I got mine. If I had known I probably could have gone to some other region and gotten one.
I can't say I'm sorry to see all those unsold Priuses at Stevens Creek Toyota. Their sales department is full of real pr*cks. I wouldn't buy from them if they were the only Toyota dealer in California. But I'm not bitter. No, not at all!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jamarimutt @ Jan 1 2007, 06:38 AM) </div> 2005's??
I am in the market for a new Prius but I just found out that California only carries 3 different packages!!!! #2, #5 and #6. Does anyone know why this is happening? #2 does not have some of the stuff I want and #5 has a price I don't think I can afford. Does anyone know if there are nearby states that carry the #3 package. I am willing to go out of town to get it!!!! Help please. Also what are packge #8 or #9 some people are talking about? I did not see that anywhere on the website? Or is it the color # everyone is talking about?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(adoraim @ Jan 8 2007, 05:35 PM) </div> Not sure who told you CA only carries those packages. Even the websites of a local (for you) toyota dealers will let you build a prius with package 3 for a quote ( http://www.toyotasandiego.com/ or http://www.mossytoyota.com/build_research.htm ) . Whether they have any in stock at the moment may be another matter. The packages #8 and #9 are from earlier years. The highest level package for 2007 is package #6. You can read descriptions of the packages on Toyota's website and find links to dealers from there as well. You might have just encountered a salesman trying to unload a higher-priced car on you after they sold off their package 3 & 4s during Toyotatthon at the end of December. See this post for an example of someone buying a Package #3 in California. http://priuschat.com/index.php?s=&show...st&p=351733
Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa, CA, has (or recently had) over thirty 2007 Prius packages 2,3,4, and 6 for sure, as well as a Prius with no options packages. Don't know their current inventory. They were a pleasure to work with, and having used their service department for years (Cressidas and a Camry), have been very satisfied with them. They're in business for the long haul, not out to make a quick buck. (Knock wood.)
