A family member has been driving mine the past couple months. I get a full 8+ mpg higher avg than they do...

Let it idle for a while before driving, blast the a/c, and a modestly heavy foot can combine to eat away 15-20% like any other car, it's just more noticeable bc the whole number is bigger in this case with the Prius

Yep..little things can make a big difference the higher the MPGs get. Especially things like tires, wheel size, etc...And in your case, driver behavior.

I usually just refer to fuelly.com to get a rough estimate of the MPG curve for any particular vehicle. Fuelly isn't a perfect representation though...because fuelly users are generally "MPG enthusiasts" that trend higher. However, it has been pretty darn accurate overall.

Not all Prius Vs are the same, and not Prius owners drive the same way,
I live in the DC area. My 2014 Prius V gets 44-48 MPG on highways and on average speed of 60-65 mph.
However, in the city, it falls to a dismal 32-36 MPG. Hybrids are often quoted as having a better gas mileage in city driving than on highways. This is my second Prius V, and my experience has been the opposite. I bought my Prius V new in 2014 in the Boston area where I lived until 2019. I bought it new in 2014. When new, the gas mileage would fall in the 36 MPG range during the winter which is normal in New England given the cold. The gas mileage would go up in city driving during the summer.(above 40 MPG).
I assume the hybrid battery loses power with age, in a car that has 110,000 miles, thus my present gas mileage.

I've had the same experience with my Gen 2 Prius; just got me the Gen 5 (2023) LE; let's see how that does; I'm still happy with the car though.

With 300,000+ km (~200,000 miles) and Energy Saver A/S, I still get car measured 4.6 l/100km (21~22km/litre) ~ 51 US MPG on my 2012 Prius V on average. I try to drive at 80-90 km/h (55MPH range) and brake over longer distance to avoid abrupt braking. At higher speeds MPG drops.

Driving style matters (Slow acceleration and deceleration)
We keep 38 PSI pressure on all 4 tires on our Prius V
Use cruise control as much as possible

ECO throttle map squeezes on the power, more so than full race mode…

Man I must be ahead of the curve! Orlando area, so highways to work and traffic coming home. First full tank I put on it (refilled at about a quarter) got me 45.99 by my calculations. (Computer said 47.something) I was really happy with this as the toaster (xB) got 31.

I'm ahead of the curve too, and that's living in Minnesota with it's freezing cold winters and more hilly terrain. My lifetime average is 47.2 MPG, with the tank I'm on now running about 53-54 MPG.
And yes, I DO drive for economy, easy starts, anticipate stops (use that regen braking) and highway speeds 60 MPG or less.
