I added my name to the wait-list and put down $500 last July for a Prime. Still well down that list. Have my name on another list where I'm still 17th. Called around to several other dealers without any luck. I even have a broker who specializes in upscale limited cars looking. I'm starting to feel like I'm back in the Soviet Union, circa 1970 waiting for my Lada to arrive. Anyone have any suggestions? I wasn't in a rush this winter since I prefer a few months of good weather driving before I have to deal with snow tires and slippery roads.

Take a little vacation time and make a trip to Florida. In a week you could probably have one. I bought mine in January the day after it was unloaded from the truck. Good luck. Timing is everything.

Reminds me of the old Soviet joke. Comrade ordered a new Lada. Told it would arrive on the 1st April in three years time. He asked if it would arrive in the morning or afternoon. Salesman asked why he wanted to know. The buyer explained that the plumber had arranged to visit in the afternoon.

Those Germans who ordered a KDF (Kraft durch Freude) Wagen never received one.

Comrade, you should have planted your potato instead. Your Prius wouldn't be here any faster, but by then you'd have grown four more potatoes.

they can't make them fast enough to meet demand, plus, they are all on recall hold right now, factory shut down temporarily.
toyota only planned for a certain amount this year, not knowing how they would sell based on past sales.

Literally can buy Prius Primes in stock in many Boston area dealers, with discounts...

So from your other post, you've been waiting 9 months? Something's wrong with that number. Either you messed something up or you're way too picky with your trim/colors/options. I was getting calls/texts from dealerships around me (I was on waitlist at 5 dealerships) within weeks of wait listing. I just had certain colors/trim I wanted so I had to wait longer til one became available that I wanted. But your dealers should be reaching out to you when buyers for ones back out of the deal, which should be happening at LEAST every other month.

I might be doing something wrong. I don't know. But I do know that within 100 miles of where I live the actual in-stock inventory has never been greater than 8 units. And all of those units were presold. You're very fortunate to live somewhere that has constant stock. That's not the case, as far as I can tell, here in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. And as far as being too picky, the only restriction I've put on my choices is not wanting one color and wanting most options. The Primes I've seen in the local inventory are generally fully loaded, with the exception of the solar roof, which I'd like but isn't a deal breaker.

Yes, they are. The Dealer Notice can be downloaded from the NHTSA recall page

You would have been better off with a Lada. Better color choices, no recalls, a wonderful emblem.

I searched around here yesterday after someone mentioned that they were in stock in Massachusetts and selling below msrp.
I found only one that wasn’t pre sold or in transit or in production, and chances are if you called, it wouldn’t be available.
And now everything is on recall hold anyway

I was 1st on the list at 2 local dealers in March of '23. My requirements were very minimal (anything but white). My requirements really didn't matter because neither ever received a single Prime in '23. I luckily found a few sitting on a lot near Niagra, NY. I had my dealer call and arrange a dealer trade. A week later, I finally had my Prime in March of this year. So far, I've only seen 3 other Prius on the road and none were a Prime. Some states really aren't receiving any directly from Toyota and have to resort to desperate means to get them.

The dealer near me seems to be getting mostly Primes. I should say “was” getting. Wish Toyota would reconsider their wheel/tire choice while they are at it but doubt that will happen. I don’t regret rejecting the 2023 that initially came in for me but I’m starting to regret not saying yes to a 2022. Oh well…

Wow, sounds like you're on a wild goose chase for that Prime! It's like the whole town's holding its breath for you to get behind the wheel. Have you tried any unconventional methods, like bribing the dealer with cookies or serenading them with a car-themed song? Just kidding, but seriously, I hope your wait pays off soon and you can cruise into summer with that sweet ride!

Here in the UK the Prius has only just been offered for sale and I get the feeling that demand is rather low since one month after the order book was opened they offered a complimentary Toyota HomeCharge. If that’s the case, combined with the rear door switch safety recall, I wonder if they might decide not to market the Prius here in the UK and return the one (mine) order deposit?

Ha ha, yeah, and "It (the country) no longer exists," hectares per tank, and the fly emblem. :)
