I have 93,000 on my 2010 gen 3 prius and the stearing feels like it is sticking. Has anyone noticed that in theirs? I wonder about what it would cost to get it fixed. Thanks Barnabas
This is usually low tire pressure... It's amazing how many people think they can go years and years without making sure they're keeping their tire pressure as high as possible. The higher the tire pressure the less sticky the steering, as well as way better MPG.
Thanks for the reply. I wish it was was that simple. I check my tire pressure monthly and keep the tires at 3 lbs above the totota lable recommended pressures.
If you pull out the 60 amp EPS (electric power steering) fuse (look near the top outboard corner of the underhood fusebox, it's a big fuse) you can drive the car around some with manual steering. Expect a good upper body workout. It's a car with a heavy front end. Do you still notice a "sticky" feeling that way (adjusting for everything feeling, you know, harder)? That might be a clue whether you've got more of a mechanical issue, or something involving the power assist.
