The first part of your story is scarily similar to mine. lol

    In 2011, I inherited a 2010 Prius when my great-uncle died at 95.

The rest of my story is very different as I kept it until last year when I traded it in for my 2023 Limited.

My wife works 50 miles away, so we started looking into a Prius. She found a used 2009 and liked it. I liked it enough that when my Pontiac died, we got a 2011. We're trying to make it to her retirement (maybe 2030), and decided to upgrade to a 2019 Prime. I've still got all three, so I'm trying to sell one of the older ones at the moment.

Three Priuses! So you basically have a gen 2, gen 3, and gen 4. Now all you need is the gen 5

Nice! We're now up to three 1st gens, and it does look like around a third are people who have not owned Priuses, so that's pretty good!

I had a Gen 2. I absolutely loved it and it’s the reason I came back to Toyota after a few years with a different brand and got the Gen 5. I was originally waiting for a dealer to get a 2022 at MSRP, but it took so long (14 months!) that I ended up with a 2023. Glad it worked out that way.

Wowza! Big kudos to a really loyal Prius owner (y)

I never traded in my 2010, so it's one Prius all the way up to now.

Nice! Both yours? I assume not since it's public parking, but the color being the same is really cool.

You can tell from the pic that the gen 3 will hold a lot more cargo lol

Yes, I took the pic at the dealer. I traded the gen 3 with 220,000 miles great car for the gen 5 xle really like the gen 5 but yes, cargo room is small I have the cargo carpet from the gen 3 on my gen 5 and it is 4 inches too long, its also more shallow..

Never had one before but liking hatch backs and wanting my next car to be hybrid I may well end up with a used gen 4 when our second car kicks the bucket in a couple years. Won't be driven too often but a couple times a week and cheap on gas would be nice.

Just want to buy time until there are good quality EVs out there in our price range that aren't kia/Hyundai.

Or alternatively if the kia/Hyundai reliability is good for EVs (vs their terrible ICE cars) then I guess I'm open to that as a commuter car for my wife.

We started with a new Prius 2001 and liked it. Then a new Prius 2005. When we had problems with Prius 2001 battery, we bought a used Prius C 2012. When I found one, i bought a rusted Prius 2003 to repair Prius 2001 and my son is driving it. I bought a new Prius 2023 to replace Prius 2005. Prius 2001-2003 had electric power steering, Prius 2004-2009 added electric cooling, Prius 2010-2016 and Prius C added electric water pump without accessory belt, Prius 2018-2022 added AWD, Prius 2023 added a 2.0 liter normal engine when in a hurry and 1.0 liter like engine when not in a hurry (Dynamic Force Engine).
