How I improved my MPG - 2010 Gen 3 IV

    Good to hear! Nah the car has been egr free for a long time now and it runs like normal on all trips. After getting that death rattle for a while go ahead and change your spark plugs. Knock/misifire for extended periods of time really eats the tips off of the spark plugs which can make you misfire easier or more. Every knock is a point towards a head gasket replacement so glad you got it figured out before it added up to one.

    Wow do you think I need a inverter or egr just got new batt 12v and 2700 greentec batt new cells still sluggish

    No, you missunderstood...
    If the 12v battery is getting old, or is bad, the inverter will work harder and longer
    to charge the 12v battery. If they hybrid battery was bad, the engine will run more trying
    to charge the hybrid battery.

    I think it better gets 50+ with new traction battery. I have 2010 V at 267k with major maintenance including new plugs & coils, 12V battery, OCC installed, new pcv, cleaned intake&maf, new brake pads and rear rotors, flushed trans-axle fluid, both coolants. Right now getting 49.8 mpg with original battery

    What EGR function is?! Can we bypass it in cars that have the egr??

    All intents and purposes its just about exactly the same. I say that because in back to back test the delete seems to do like 1% better.

    I'm confused. How did your fuel economy go up by disabling the EGR? And why don't you have a check Engine light activated that sends the car into open loop mode?

    Who knows. Been driving it like this for 40k miles now. p0403 stays on. I run around with a scan gauge though so i can view codes at will.

    1% meaning the change in FE is probably less than the measurement error. So its essentially unchanged in mpg.

    I know what theoretical says, but in the real world it just drives nice now. No worries about issues anymore. Just back to oil and filter changes etc...

    I suspect toyota engineers purposely programmed it not to go into open loop.
