Today is the first day they are in finally in stock and ready to ship: Thanks to Vadim who also sells busbars and nuts, this project is now live! Been searching for someone to source parts for this for years and it finally happened: www.acenbay.com/product-page/hybrid-battery-wire-harness-for-gen-2-2004-2009-toyota-prius As many know the corrosion on these voltage sensor harnesses can lead to corrosion getting into the battery ECU and corroding and short-circuiting the pins that this plug plugs into. Up until now Toyota was the only maker of this part and you had to buy it with the orange plastic frame and busbars and it's more expensive than the $39 he's charging. What's more he sent me a prototype and its made of higher quality materials than the one Toyota makes. So please help spread the word to anyone you know who's a battery re-builder that these are available along with lots of bus bar and nut options at his website: Hybrid Battery Bus Bars | ACENBAY, LLC In a month or so he's also going to place an order for a batch for Gen3 Prius too. And with Gen3, Toyota doesn't sell that wire frame separately, you can only get new ones if you buy the whole pack. So he's soon going to be the only source for Gen3 voltage sensor harnesses unless you're ok with buying used ones.
For those with the proofreading gene: the name of this part is either "wire, frame", with the comma, if you are an old-school parts catalog, or "frame wire" if you speak conversational English. Is Vadim matching the wire colors used in the originals?
Most of them, but it's a higher quality wire and the junk Toyota uses has more strange stripe colors than are available for shorter production runs. But wire color isn't something you'd likely ever need to reference because it comes already assembled and each wire length is different which makes confusing them hard to do. Only time I ever needed to know wire color for a voltage sensor harness was when I tried to wire a 20 module Prius pack into a Honda Insight, which I gave up on before I succeeded.
The colors are shown in the factory wiring diagram, though, so somebody might be tempted to look. If the thing has a label clearly showing it's not factory, that might be enough to avoid any mistake.
That's a good point... I'll tell him to consider attaching a sticker making that clear with his website address for more info!
Thanks for the suggestion, I will make sure it is labeled clearly that the colors do not correspond to the factory wiring diagram. The reason for not following the colors exactly as per factory diagram was the availability of color variations of those specific wires. Those wires are thicker gauge, and they are automotive wires. The different length wires will help with the installation because they can only go one way. I am working on getting an orange wire frame made, so eventually the assembly of the wire harness in the frame will no longer be necessary because it will be shipped assembled, like the OEM one.
