If you are interested TNJellyBean, PM your email address and I will send you an American Excel spreadsheet for complete logging and recording MPG, costs, fuel usage etc.
Hay, sup jellybean!!! What part of TN you from?? I live only about 6 miles from the tennessee-north carolina border..... Welcome to the Cult.... errrr, I mean, CLUB!! yeah, thats it!! Happy New Year!!! the Prius really makes driving FUN again!!
thanks for the warm welcome everybody.... my car is red for those who are curious, i've never ever had a red car (always either white or grey), so i'm pretty psyched about that too! i've been 330 miles so far, and still look to have about a 1/4 tank left (3 dots).... the computer thinks i'm averaging about 47mpg, i'll be curious to do the math for myself on my first fill up. did i mention i'm really excited to have this car! LOL!! <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rangerdavid @ Dec 29 2006, 07:57 PM) </div> i'm just across the mountain (more or less) in the knoxville area.... took a trip to boone last summer, interesting town - great record store!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TNJellyBean @ Dec 29 2006, 11:45 AM) </div> I remember the feeling well. Welcome to Prius Chat, and congratulations on your new car.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TNJellyBean @ Dec 29 2006, 05:34 PM) </div> Welcome to PC when you start logging your mileage etc. you will come to see that the first tank is probably the worst as the dealer really only fills to the first click of the pump. So yes you got your first "tank" included in the price but not completely full. Other than that enjoy and you will eventually realise every thing else is just Priustoric.
Welcome TN! I've got 3400 miles on mine now and it's awesome. It's also really weird! Read the manual 5 times, and check out the "Obscure Facts" thread. Secrets will be revealed!
Welcome to the good times. You'll enjoy this car for years. I think you've had it long enough now to consider going out this weekends, pulling the front dash off and doing some mods involving wire cutting. Well, maybe NEXT weekend. Happy New Car!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Frank Hudon @ Dec 29 2006, 06:02 PM) </div> I never fill past the first click of the pump. Jellybean needs to know that over-filling the tank can cause gas to "burp" back out at you, due to the nature of the gas bladder. If you know what you are doing, you can get more gas in, but a new Prius driver would be better advised to stop at the first click, even if it means getting half a gallon less in the tank.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TNJellyBean @ Dec 29 2006, 05:34 PM) </div> Welcome, nice avatar. A lot of the time (maybe most of the time) the computer is more accurate than computing mileage the old way. The North American version of the Prius has a bladder in it's fuel tank and the tank never seems to hold the same amount twice. Plus gas pumps are not always accurate and, as previously mentioned, your dealer may not have filled it clear up anyway. 47 MPG is very good for your first tank, winter mileage is usually less as you will learn on this site.
